Wishlist Prague Residences – Old Town Bilkova Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Wishlist Prague Residences? Walking up to Bílkova 16, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the street view – it’s this quiet cobblestone lane that feels almost forgotten compared to the tourist chaos just a few blocks away. But that’s actually the genius of this place. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock and all that Old Town madness, but when you duck into this little side street, it’s like stepping into a different century. The building itself has that weathered Prague charm – you know, the kind where you can practically feel the history in the stonework, but inside they’ve done this really thoughtful renovation that doesn’t try too hard to be modern.

The residences (and I mean, calling them hotel rooms feels wrong – these are proper apartments) have this lived-in quality that most hotels completely miss. The floors creak just enough to remind you you’re in a 14th-century building, but the kitchens are actually functional and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places in the historic center. What really sold me was the morning routine – I’d grab coffee from the little café on Dlouhá street (locals line up there around 8 AM, which tells you everything), then walk back through these impossibly narrow medieval streets that feel like your own private discovery. The staff gets this too – they’re not pushy with recommendations, but when you ask about avoiding the tourist traps, they’ll quietly mention places like Lokál Dlouhááá for proper Czech food or point you toward the lesser-known entrances to Prague Castle that skip half the crowds.

Here’s the thing about Prague’s Old Town – most hotels either stick you in some soulless modern box or dump you in a “historic” place that’s basically a museum you sleep in. This spot threads that needle perfectly. Yeah, you’ll hear some street noise in the early evening when people are heading to dinner (Bílkova connects to some popular restaurant streets), but it settles down completely by 10 PM. Parking is nonexistent, obviously – I mean, we’re talking about medieval streets here – but honestly, you won’t need a car anyway. The 9.5 rating makes sense once you realize they’re not trying to be everything to everyone. It’s for people who want to actually experience Prague, not just Instagram it. The apartments feel like someone’s stylish Prague flat that they’re letting you borrow, complete with those impossibly high ceilings and windows that frame the exact church spires and red rooftops you came to Prague to see. When I left, I was already thinking about booking the same place for next time – which, let’s be honest, rarely happens with hotels these days.

Reviews of Wishlist Prague Residences – Old Town Bilkova

  • Be cautious when it comes to money — they might look for any opportunity to charge extra. – מיכאל from Israel – 16 May 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: The apartment is excellent and the location is great, but the service I received was disappointing.

I got locked out after the key was left inside the door, making it impossible to open from the outside. The host arrived and mentioned this wasn’t the first time such an issue had happened. I waited for an hour — without success. I had to leave, and only after about 30 minutes I was told the issue was resolved and I could return. At the same time, they asked for a tip — without even offering an apology.

Later, I received a sarcastic message about leaving only 100 CZK, along with a vague claim that the locksmith cost €100–€120. It felt like an unfair attempt to pressure me into paying more.

Additionally, although the booking stated that late check-in costs €25, I was charged €30. I paid, but it’s unclear why a simpler solution isn’t available.

In conclusion: Great apartment, but the attitude was disappointing. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of the tourist at every opportunity.

What could be improved: Mann Nachts extrem in der Heizung das Wasser blubbern gehört.

  • נהנינו מאוד. – Sandra from Israel – 14 December 2024 (10/10)

  • Superb – Tilo from Germany – 13 May 2024 (9/10)

Tolle zentrale Lage, aber trotzdem ruhige Lage, moderne und angenehme Einrichtung

  • Super Lage, originelles Appartement mit kleinen Abstrichen. – Jo from Liechtenstein – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

Lage ist super! Nah am Zentrum und doch eine Oase der Ruhe.

What could be improved: Manche Lampen und der Safe haben nicht funktioniert.
    Die Sauberkeit war etwas oberflächlich.
