I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Residence Vinohrad on Zizkovo náměstí. The building looks pretty understated from the street, sort of blending in with the other turn-of-the-century facades in Vinohrady. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This isn’t some flashy tourist trap trying to grab your attention – it’s the real deal, tucked into one of Prague’s most authentically local neighborhoods.

The moment you step inside, though, you get it. They’ve done this beautiful job of keeping the old-world character while making everything feel genuinely comfortable and modern. The rooms are what really won me over – spacious in a way that’s rare for European city hotels, with these lovely high ceilings and windows that actually open (thank god, because Prague can get stuffy in summer). I mean, after staying in those cramped places in Wenceslas Square where you can barely open your suitcase, this felt like luxury. The staff clearly knows their stuff too – not in that overly formal way, but like they actually want to help you have a good time in their city.

What I love most about staying here is that you’re living like a local without sacrificing comfort. Jiřího z Poděbrad square is just a few minutes’ walk, and honestly, that’s where you want to be – amazing farmers market on Saturdays, great cafes, and the kind of restaurants where Czech families actually eat. You can walk to the main sights (Wenceslas Square is maybe 15 minutes on foot), but when you come home at night, you’re away from all that tourist chaos. The tram connections are fantastic – line 11 stops right nearby and gets you anywhere you need to go. Parking can be a bit tricky in the neighborhood, but the hotel sorted that out for us without any drama. I stayed here in both winter and late spring, and while the area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM (which I actually loved), there’s always something happening during the day. That 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers – you can feel it in how well everything works and how much thought went into the details.
