Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Novotel Praha Wenceslas Square, you immediately get that feeling of being in the heart of everything without the chaos. The lobby has this modern, polished vibe that screams four-star comfort — sleek lines, warm lighting, and staff who actually seem happy to see you. What struck me most was how the hotel manages to feel both international and distinctly Prague at the same time, which honestly isn’t easy to pull off in a city where so many places lean too heavily into either tourist kitsch or corporate blandness.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying near Wenceslas Square — you’re literally in Prague’s beating heart, but Katerinska Street keeps you just far enough from the main tourist madness to actually get some sleep. I mean, you can walk to the National Museum in about three minutes, hit Old Town Square in ten, and there’s a tram stop practically outside your door. The area has this perfect mix of locals grabbing coffee and visitors exploring, so you get authentic Prague life without feeling like you’re staying in a theme park. Couples especially seem to love wandering these streets (and honestly, I can see why — there’s something romantic about those cobblestones and Art Nouveau buildings).

The Room Experience

The rooms are what you’d expect from Novotel — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without trying too hard to be trendy. Mine had this great view toward the square, and the bed was actually comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with Prague’s medieval ghosts all night. The bathroom was spacious by European standards, with a proper shower that had decent water pressure. You know what I appreciated most? The blackout curtains actually worked, which is crucial when you’re dealing with those bright European summer mornings and jet lag.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast buffet here is honestly better than it needs to be. Sure, you’ve got your standard hotel fare, but they also include some Czech specialties that give you a taste of local flavors without having to venture out before you’ve had your coffee. The spread is generous — fresh pastries, decent coffee, and enough variety to keep you happy whether you’re a light eater or someone who treats hotel breakfast like their main meal of the day. The dining area gets busy around 8 AM, so if you’re not a morning person, aim for 9:30 or later.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it nails the balance between accessibility and authenticity. You’re staying in Prague’s most dynamic neighborhood with a location score that speaks for itself, but you’re not paying Old Town premium prices or dealing with Old Town crowds right outside your window. The private parking is actually a huge deal if you’re driving — finding parking in central Prague can be a nightmare. It’s the kind of hotel where you feel like you made a smart choice rather than just a safe one, and in a city with as many accommodation options as Prague, that’s saying something.

Very clean and location was perfect just walking distance from the centre

What could be improved: We didn’t realise the pool was under renovation till April when we got there which was disappointing

Nice room

What could be improved: Didn’t know the pool was shut. We chose the hotel because it had a pool.
They don’t show you to a table at breakfast, you have to wander around looking for one, and no tables available had cutlery on them.
