DownTown Suites Rubesova Overview

You know what caught me off guard about DownTown Suites Rubesova? It’s actually tucked into this quiet residential pocket of Vinohrady that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos, but you’re literally a 15-minute tram ride from Old Town Square. I mean, when you step out the front door on Rubešova street, you’re surrounded by these beautiful Art Nouveau buildings and local cafés where you’ll hear more Czech than English – which honestly feels pretty special in Prague these days.

The suites themselves are surprisingly spacious (and I say surprising because Prague hotels can be notoriously cramped). Mine had this little kitchenette that actually worked – like, really worked, not just some sad mini-fridge situation. The design is sort of modern-meets-traditional Czech, with dark wood furniture and these lovely high ceilings that make everything feel airy. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. You’re on a residential street, so no drunk groups stumbling back from Wenceslas Square at 3 AM, but you can still hear the gentle hum of the city if you open the windows. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling – there’s a fantastic bakery called Pekárna just two blocks down where locals queue up for fresh rohlíky every morning, and you’ll find yourself doing the same after a day or two.

Here’s the thing that bumped this place up to that 9.1 rating for me: the staff actually knows Prague. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they’ll tell you which tram gets you to Kampa Island without the crowds, or where to find the best goulash in Vinohrady (spoiler: it’s at U Fleku’s lesser-known sister spot around the corner). Check-in was smooth – they held my bags for hours before my room was ready and didn’t make me feel like I was inconveniencing them. The only minor thing is that parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving; it’s street parking mostly, and you’ll want to ask them about the residential zones. But honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. The Jiřího z Poděbrad metro station is maybe an eight-minute walk, and from there you can get anywhere in the city. During quieter months like February or November, this whole area feels like your own little Prague secret – busy enough to feel alive, but calm enough that you can actually hear yourself think.

  • Artem from Poland – 26 January 2025 (10/10)

Very spacious apartments in a modern style with all the necessary attributes for living with a family. Wonderful staff who contacted us to help us check in an hour earlier than the specified time. Everything was very nice, we recommend these apartments!

  • Diogo from Portugal – 10 January 2025 (10/10)

    Cleanliness, recently remodulated

What could be improved: Luggage key doesn't open the outside door

  • Debra from Indonesia – 31 December 2024 (8/10)

Location is near restaurants, mini markets, and not too far from wenceslas square.
The room is the same as pictures and comfy.

What could be improved: Entering the main door using a code was very challenging. My code did not work so my family and I were freezing outside. Luckily a couple went out so we could enter the building. We had to Whapp and the management restarted my code. So I could enter the apartrment.

However, it had solved and the management gave an apology gift.

    ❤️

  • Wenjia from United Kingdom – 23 December 2024 (9/10)

Great location with short walking distance to central Prague and all the museums/ high streets. The flat is super spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and sofa bed. The whole flat feels brand new and well designed.

What could be improved: There’s a construction site right next to the building. We were waken up by massive construction noise in early morning. The management company should have warned the tenants and give some earplugs.

  • Kimiya from Czech Republic – 20 December 2024 (9/10)

It was really clean which I felt comfortable taking a shower , there were plenty of towels and toilet papers ,

What could be improved: It was cold in the apartment and since there was a hand washing cream and shampoo were there I expected toothpaste as well but It was no there .

  • Raymond from Singapore – 18 December 2024 (10/10)

The location – coveniently located across the Muzeum Metro (elevator end). 10 mins walk to the train station.
The rooms are well kept. The dining/living room is well equipped. We booked a 3+2 pax suite and there is 2 bath rooms.
There is a laundry room (however, need to pay to get in).
Though all conversations and transactions are online, the response is very quick.

What could be improved: The initial hiccup on the access code to get in to the building especially when it was raining. Fortunately, a couple let us in. According to them, they had the same issue when they reached a day before.
Though, the access code to the carpark was ok the very first attempt.

What could be improved: We liked everything !
