Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from an apartment listing called “Colorful” – honestly, that usually screams tourist trap. But this place on Ve Smečkách actually lives up to its name in the best possible way. The moment you step off that tiny European elevator onto the 4th floor, you’re hit with this burst of thoughtful design that somehow doesn’t feel overdone. The colors aren’t garish like I feared – more like someone with actual taste decided to have fun with jewel tones and vintage Czech touches.
The location is where this place really shines, though. Ve Smečkách is one of those streets that locals use as a shortcut but tourists rarely stumble upon, which means you’re literally a two-minute walk from Wenceslas Square without dealing with the constant crowd noise. I mean, you can still hear the trams rumbling by – this is Prague, after all – but it’s more of a gentle urban lullaby than the chaos you’d expect. What really sold me was discovering that Lucerna Passage is right around the corner. If you haven’t been, it’s this gorgeous art nouveau arcade with the best coffee shops and that famous upside-down horse statue that every local has a story about. The apartment owner clearly knows the neighborhood because there’s a handwritten list of recommendations that includes places I’ve never seen in guidebooks – like this tiny wine bar tucked behind the Franciscan Garden that doesn’t even have a proper sign.
The space itself feels lived-in rather than sterile, which is rare for vacation rentals these days. The kitchen actually has proper knives (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and the shower has decent water pressure – honestly, after a day of walking Prague’s cobblestones, that matters more than fancy amenities. The 9.1 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not flawless – the building is old, so expect some quirky plumbing sounds and stairs that creak – but those aren’t really problems, they’re just Prague being Prague. What impressed me most was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central. The courtyard-facing windows help, but I think it’s also just that this stretch of Ve Smečkách doesn’t get the bar crowd that some nearby streets do. If you’re planning to visit during spring or early fall, book way ahead – the combination of great location and reasonable pricing means it fills up fast during the sweet weather months.

Location was excellent, easy to walk to the National Museum and old town. Many restaurants nearby. The apartment was large and spacious. There were four of us so having a living room to hang out in was nice. The main train station was 4-5 blocks so we walked to it (12 minutes) on our departure.
