Apartments U Švejků

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Újezd 22, Prague, 11000, Czech Republic

Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Apartments U Švejků on Újezd street, you immediately get that “this is the real Prague” feeling. It’s tucked into one of those classic buildings that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed city apartment rather than a typical hotel. The entrance has character — not flashy, just authentically Czech in that understated way that grows on you. The building’s facade reflects the neighborhood’s authentic charm and historical significance.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is what makes this place special. You’re in Lesser Town (Malá Strana), which means Prague Castle is basically your neighbor, and you can walk to Charles Bridge in about five minutes. But here’s what I really love — Újezd street itself has this perfect mix of local life and tourist accessibility. There’s a tram stop right there, so getting around Prague is effortless, and you’ve got actual neighborhood spots where locals grab coffee, not just tourist traps. The surrounding area offers genuine Czech culture and authentic dining experiences.

The Space

These aren’t your standard hotel room — they’re proper apartments with space to actually live a bit. The kitchen setup means you can grab fresh bread from the local bakery and make your own breakfast, which honestly feels more authentic than another hotel buffet. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and Czech character. You know what surprised me? How quiet it stays despite being so central — the building seems to buffer the street noise really well. Each apartment is thoughtfully designed for comfort and functionality.

What Sets It Apart

This three-star place punches above its weight class, and I think it’s because they focus on the essentials rather than trying to be everything to everyone. The staff actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good beer halls that locals frequent, not just the obvious tourist spots. Plus, couples seem to really connect with this place, and I get why. There’s something romantic about having your own little Prague apartment, even if it’s just for a few nights. The personalized service creates memorable stays for visitors.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests keep mentioning the location, and they’re not wrong — but it’s more nuanced than just “central.” You’re positioned perfectly to explore both the castle area and the Old Town without feeling like you’re camping out in the middle of the chaos. The apartment-style setup gives you flexibility that regular hotels don’t offer, and honestly, after a long day of sightseeing, having your own space to decompress feels pretty valuable. It’s that rare find where the high rating actually matches the experience. Visitors consistently praise the balance of comfort, location, and authentic Prague atmosphere.

Prague hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Old Town Square to elegant castle-view hotels and modern accommodations near Wenceslas Square.
