Hotel Description

You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first rolled up to Zizkoff apartments on Chlumova street – it’s tucked into this quiet residential block in Vinohrady that most tourists completely miss. But that turned out to be exactly what made it special. While everyone else is fighting crowds around Wenceslas Square, you’re actually living like a local in one of Prague’s most livable neighborhoods.

The building itself has that solid, pre-war charm that Prague does so well – thick walls that actually keep the noise out (trust me, after staying in some paper-thin “boutique” places, this matters). The apartments are surprisingly spacious for a 3-star spot, and I mean actually spacious, not just “European spacious.” My unit had a proper kitchen where I could make coffee that didn’t taste like hotel lobby water, and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow. The whole place feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying in a hotel, which honestly is exactly what you want when you’re planning to stay more than a couple nights.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on the location – you’re a five-minute walk to Náměstí Míru, where there’s this fantastic farmers market on Saturdays that hardly any guidebooks mention. Plus, the metro connection gets you to Old Town in maybe 15 minutes, but when you come back at night, you’re not dealing with drunk bachelor parties stumbling around outside your window. The neighborhood actually has character – proper Czech pubs where locals drink Pilsner and argue about football, not touristy beer halls charging 8 euros for the same thing. There’s a little Vietnamese place around the corner that does phenomenal pho (Prague’s Vietnamese food scene is weirdly excellent, by the way), and a Tesco if you need to grab groceries without hunting down some overpriced convenience store.

The staff was refreshingly straightforward – no fake enthusiasm, just helpful when you need something and invisible when you don’t. Check-in was smooth, they actually answered their phone when I had questions about the heating (which works great, incidentally), and they know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the castle like everyone else. I stayed in October when the weather was getting crisp, and the apartment stayed consistently warm without that dry, overheated feeling you get in a lot of older buildings. The 8.6 rating honestly feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s comfortable, well-located, and priced fairly for what you get. If you’re the type who wants to experience Prague beyond the tourist circuit but still have easy access to all the must-see stuff, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews

  • We had a very good time. – Ninisha from Netherlands – 8 July 2025 (9/10)

The location was great and close to a tram stop. The room was clean and big, and the bed was very comfortable.

What could be improved: I did not realize that the rooms would be in the basement and have no windows. It was a little weird to not know the weather outside. But regardless the room was well ventilated.

  • Nice, modern. – Adam from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (8/10)

Shower, coffee machine, bed comfortable, the basement is very well insulated, it was 33 degrees one day and didn't notice a lack of air-conditioning.

What could be improved: Pin code entrance on the main door was temperamental.

Not very clear in the description that the kitchen is communal. This wasn't an issue per se, but would rather it be made clear.

  • Nice stay – Dominika from Slovakia – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

    Very nice and tidy
Shared kitchen with a coffee machine and some snacks
Bathroom was clean with basic toiletry
    Easy check-in

What could be improved: The room didn't have windows

  • Great location for couples! – Gabriela from Poland – 18 November 2024 (10/10)

The standard of furniture and the spacious room

What could be improved: The fact that there are no windows

  • Room with shower room. – Gillyb17 from United Kingdom – 6 October 2024 (10/10)

Was a great room with a shower room attached. Very clean. Shared kitchen area.

What could be improved: My husband was 6.4, and the towels were way too small for him. Know it was self-catering but never mentioned taken own towels.

  • Lovely apartment. – Shannon from United Kingdom – 27 September 2024 (8/10)

Very clean, and vibrant. Love how it was under basement. Location was perfect literally a minute away from the tram which only take 20 minutes to town.

What could be improved: Room was too warm and humidity through the night and no ventilation. Was be nice to see fitted air conditions. Towels was too small. Lucky brought my own.

  • Modern, clean appartment. Great communication with host. – Georgia from Greece – 18 September 2024 (10/10)

Great communication with the host. Modern, clean appartments.

  • Superb – Veronika from Czech Republic – 15 September 2024 (9/10)

Clear check in instructions (could be sent a little earlier – in the morning), great location, clean and comfortable room.

What could be improved: The apartments are located in the basement so there are no windows.

  • Great value for money – Nicola from United Kingdom – 22 August 2024 (8/10)

Liked the shared kitchen with tea/coffee facilities, microwave, and fridge. Beds were also comfy with two separate duvets so we didn't have to fight each other for the duvet for a change.

What could be improved: A bit warm in the rooms (sometimes warmer than outside) and the towels were tiny.

  • Brilliant – Ellie from United Kingdom – 20 August 2024 (10/10)

Lovely and clean – hosts were lovely

What could be improved: Maybe need a bigger bath mat, got a little bit slippery. But honestly such a lovely place!
