Honestly, when I first walked up to Wishlist Prague Residences on Bílkova Street, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked between some pretty unremarkable buildings just off the main tourist drag. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. You’re literally a two-minute stumble from Old Town Square (perfect after those late nights at U Fleku), but you don’t get the constant noise of tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM.

The building itself has this great old Prague character – thick stone walls that actually keep things quiet, which is rare for anything in this part of the city. I mean, most places near the square sound like you’re sleeping in the middle of a medieval reenactment, but here you get these surprisingly peaceful nights. The apartments (they’re more like proper flats than hotel rooms) have been updated really thoughtfully – modern kitchens and bathrooms that actually work, but they kept the original wooden beams and these gorgeous tall windows that let in amazing light. The staff seems to genuinely care about the place too, which you don’t always get with these boutique spots. They’ll tell you things like which entrance to use for the castle walk that skips most of the crowds, or that the best trdelník isn’t actually on Wenceslas Square (thank god someone finally said it).

What really got me was the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way travel sites always say. Like, you can walk to Kampa Island in five minutes through these quiet side streets most tourists never find. The Jewish Quarter is right there, but more importantly, you’re close to actual neighborhood spots where locals go. There’s this tiny wine bar called Bokovka just around the corner that I never would have discovered if I’d stayed somewhere more obvious. The tram stop on Národní is an easy walk when you want to escape to Vinohrady or Karlín for dinner, but honestly, you might not need to leave the area much. Parking is… well, it’s Prague’s Old Town, so don’t even think about driving here. But the airport bus stops at Náměstí Republiky, which is close enough that you won’t hate your luggage-dragging self. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and while it gets busy during the day (you’re still in tourist central), evenings felt surprisingly local once the day-trippers head back to their buses. That 9.1 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without trying too hard to impress you.

Visitors often choose Prague apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Bohemian capital.
