White House

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Markova 10/594, Prague, 15800, Czech Republic

Overview

First Impressions

The White House sits quietly on Markova street in Prague, and honestly, I almost walked past it the first time — it’s got this understated charm that doesn’t scream for attention. This three-star property feels more intimate than flashy, which actually works in its favor. You know what struck me right away? The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive, not just going through the motions like at some places.

The Neighborhood

Smíchov district isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but that’s sort of the point. You’re close enough to the action without being in the thick of tourist crowds — I mean, you can still get to Old Town pretty easily, but you’ll actually hear Czech being spoken on the streets around here. There are local pubs and cafés within walking distance, and the area has this lived-in feel that gives you a better sense of how Prague actually works beyond the postcard shots.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which honestly matters more than marble countertops. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space if you’re staying more than a night or two. The bathrooms are a bit compact, but they’re well-maintained and the water pressure is actually pretty good. What I appreciated was that the windows open properly, so you can get some fresh air instead of being stuck with just air conditioning.

Food That Actually Delivers

Here’s where the White House really surprised me — the food is genuinely good. The breakfast spread includes both continental and buffet options, and they don’t skimp on quality. Fresh pastries, decent coffee, and local touches that show they’re not just ordering everything from some generic supplier. The restaurant serves dinner too, and I’d actually recommend eating there at least once instead of just using it as a place to crash. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, especially compared to what you’ll pay in the tourist areas.

Why Guests Love It

Couples seem to really connect with this place — there’s something about the quieter location and personal attention that works well for romantic trips. The parking situation is handled well too, which is no small thing in Prague where finding a spot can be a real headache. It’s the kind of hotel where you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend, not just another place that exists solely for tourists. The 7.5 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does offer is solid and reliable. This property delivers genuine hospitality and authentic experiences that resonate with discerning travelers seeking substance over pretense.

Visitors often choose Prague apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Bohemian capital.

Good value for the money

The location outside the city center (nice nature sounds and silent neighborhood) with access to the metro station. The staff were very kind and helpful.

What could be improved: The sound isolation between rooms is weak, but other guests were not disruptive during my stay.

Nice and cozy hotel with decent breakfast

It was a cozy hotel with a decent breakfast and pool. It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and it was only a ten minute walk to the metro station.

What could be improved: The price that was actually charged from my credit card was higher than the price advertised on booking.com, which I didn’t even know was possible. After confirming the booking they write a private message to you notifying you of the real price with some excuse relating to the currency exchange rate. I find it unsatisfactory that booking.com does not advertise the correct price.
