Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Unitas Residence? The history. I mean, you’re staying in a former convent that was later turned into a communist-era prison – honestly, that’s not something you expect when booking a 3-star hotel in Prague. But here’s the thing: they’ve done something really thoughtful with that past instead of just glossing over it. Walking through the corridors, you can actually feel the weight of the stories these walls hold, and the hotel embraces that rather than running from it.
The location on Bartolomějská is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re tucked away in this quiet corner of Old Town where most tourists don’t really wander, but you’re still a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square. I loved that – you get the peace and quiet at night (which is rare in central Prague, trust me), but you can stumble back from dinner in the Jewish Quarter or wherever without needing a taxi. The building itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically Prague somehow. Not the gaudy gold-and-crystal stuff you see in some of the tourist-trap hotels, but something more… well, real. The rooms are comfortable without being fancy – clean lines, decent bathrooms, and windows that actually open, which I always appreciate. Some of the rooms overlook the inner courtyard, and honestly, those are the ones you want if you can swing it. Much quieter than the street-facing ones, though even those aren’t too bad since it’s not a major thoroughfare.
What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation – they do this proper Czech spread with local breads and meats, not the international buffet nonsense you get at chain hotels. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotel employees have no clue what’s worth seeing within walking distance. They pointed me toward this tiny wine bar on Kozí that I never would’ve found otherwise. The 8.9 rating makes total sense when you experience the place – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the fundamentals really well. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with a rooftop pool or marble everything, but if you want to stay somewhere with actual character in the heart of Prague without paying five-star prices, this is exactly the kind of place you’re looking for. Plus, the whole former convent thing makes for great stories when you get home.
Hotels in Prague offer guests the perfect blend of Gothic grandeur and modern comfort, with many featuring traditional Czech beer concierge services and medieval architecture to enhance the authentic Central European cultural experience.

Lovely big room. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was varied, delicious and very well presented.
What could be improved: The air conditioner outside the room was a little noisy.A cozy and pleasant stay in a great location, with lovely staff — just wish check-out was a bit later! – Kaan from Turkey – 14 June 2025 (9/10)
The location is excellent – very close to the city center and just a 5-minute walk to both tram and metro stations. The reception staff are very attentive and helpful. Housekeeping service was very good. The room was spacious, with high ceilings that added an extra sense of openness. There was plenty of space to store our luggage. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. There is also a supermarkets and restaurants nearby that stays open late. Wi-Fi worked very well throughout our stay
What could be improved: Accessing the rooms can be a bit challenging – the combination of stairs and elevators made it difficult to reach our room with large suitcases. For guests with disabilities, if similar rooms are assigned, this could pose a significant issue and should be carefully considered.
Also, the check-out time at 10:00 a.m. feels too early. It would be more reasonable if it were extended at least until 11:00, in line with the end of breakfast service. There is no music channel on the TV:((. Very limited TV channels.Excellent for everything – Hongxia from Australia – 12 June 2025 (8/10)
Location ,quite room for sleep , comfy, good breakfast

Friendly staff . Great location. Excellent breakfast
What could be improved: My room was in the basement so although it had 2 big windows it was dark and I couldn’t see the sky with a very high wall 2 metres away. Ask not to be in the basement as rooms higher up are the same price , I was told .Superb – William from Israel – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
