U Cervene zidle – Red Chair Hotel

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Liliova 4, Prague, 11000, Czech Republic

Overview

First Impressions

Walking down Liliova Street, you’d almost miss U Cervene zidle – Red Chair Hotel if you weren’t looking for it — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star boutique spot sits tucked into one of Prague’s most atmospheric cobblestone streets, just steps from the Charles Bridge. The building itself has that weathered elegance you see all over Old Town, but there’s something intimate about the scale here that immediately feels welcoming rather than intimidating.

Location Magic

I mean, you really can’t ask for a better spot than this. You’re literally in the heart of everything — Prague Castle looms above you, the Astronomical Clock is a three-minute walk, and the Jewish Quarter is right around the corner. But here’s what I love: despite being so central, Liliova Street has this quiet, almost residential feel in the evenings. You know how some hotel locations feel touristy 24/7? This doesn’t. The couples who stay here clearly get it — they’ve rated the location 9.7, and I totally understand why.

The Room Experience

The room aren’t huge (this is Prague’s Old Town, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with that red chair motif woven throughout. Each room feels like someone actually considered how you’d live in the space, not just sleep in it. The windows open onto either the street or a quiet courtyard, and there’s something satisfying about the thick walls that keep things peaceful. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed — you won’t feel cramped, just cozy in that European way that actually works.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here strikes that perfect balance between continental classics and local touches. The buffet setup means you can grab something quick if you’re rushing off to beat the crowds at the castle, or you can settle in with proper coffee and pastries if you’re taking your time. They do a solid continental spread — nothing fancy, but everything’s fresh and there’s enough variety to keep you happy for several days. The breakfast room has these great windows that let in morning light, which honestly makes even simple bread and jam feel special.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both central and peaceful. You’re staying in a building that’s probably older than most countries, on a street that looks like a movie set, but you’re not paying five-star prices for the privilege. The staff seems to genuinely care about helping you navigate the city, and there’s this sense that you’re staying somewhere locals would actually recommend to their friends. With an 8.4 rating, it’s clear that most people leave feeling like they discovered something special rather than just booking another hotel room.

The concierge service in Prague can arrange exclusive tours of Prague Castle, secure reservations at traditional beer halls, and organize personalized visits to Charles Bridge and the UNESCO World Heritage historic center.

The location was the best. It didn’t feel like a hotel but a residence.

The location!!! Lovely bar with wonderful bartenders across the street. They have AC.

What could be improved: Did not offer breakfast.

Superb

Excellent location. Nice rooms, cosy. It's great to have a kettle and hairdryer in the room. It makes life easier for travellers.

What could be improved: A small waste bin in the bathroom was really needed.

Superb

Air conditioner saved us in the summer heat. The facilities were nice and well equipped with everything we needed.

What could be improved: The fridge was very weak and didn't chill things well
