Three Golden Crowns Apartments

Prague, Czech Republic
11 Malostranské náměstí, Prague, 118 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Prague’s Lesser Town, but Three Golden Crowns Apartments hit differently – and honestly, it’s all about that address. You’re literally on Malostranské náměstí, which means you wake up looking at baroque buildings that have been standing there since before America was even a thing. I mean, most tourists are fighting crowds just to get a photo of this square, and you’re having your morning coffee watching the whole scene unfold below.

The apartments themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but that 9.1 rating isn’t an accident. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being right in the heart of everything. The square empties out after the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships or tour buses, and suddenly you’ve got this incredibly peaceful courtyard vibe going on. The rooms are clean and functional (it’s a 3-star, so manage expectations accordingly), but the real magic happens when you step outside. You’re maybe a two-minute walk from the Lennon Wall – though honestly, skip it during peak hours unless you enjoy being shoulder-to-shoulder with selfie sticks. Charles Bridge is right there too, and here’s a local tip: hit it around 6 AM if you actually want photos without hundreds of people in them.

What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood knowledge you pick up just by being there. The old woman who runs the little grocery shop on the corner – she’ll remember you after day two and start recommending which pastries are fresh. There’s this tiny wine bar tucked into a cellar about fifty meters away that most guidebooks miss completely, and the guy who does check-in actually knows the owners and can get you a table. You know what though? Parking is going to be a nightmare if you’re driving – Prague’s old town wasn’t exactly designed for cars, and the cobblestones will rattle your teeth loose anyway. But that’s sort of the point, right? You’re staying in a place where Mozart performed and Kafka wandered around being moody, not some modern hotel district that could be anywhere in the world. The tram connections are actually perfect from here – line 12 and 20 stop right at the square, so you can get to the castle or back to the main train station without thinking about it. Just don’t expect luxury amenities or a concierge desk – this is more like borrowing a really well-located friend’s apartment than staying at a resort. But sometimes that’s exactly what makes a trip memorable.

Extremely friendly staff, very clean and very warm room which was huge considering we came in the winter. It's also located right down the street from the Charles Bridge and most of the old town. Phenomenal value for the price.

What could be improved: Genuinely can't think of anything
