Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about The Botanist? It’s tucked away on Rytířská Street in a way that feels intentional – like they wanted you to discover it rather than stumble across it. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Old Town Square, but somehow you’ve escaped into this quieter pocket where locals actually live and work. The building itself has that perfectly restored Prague character – you can tell they spent serious money on the renovation, but they didn’t strip away the soul of the place. When I walked in, there was this subtle scent of eucalyptus mixed with old wood, and honestly, it just felt… grounded, I guess? Not trying too hard to impress, but impressive all the same.

The rooms are where The Botanist really shows its personality. They’ve gone all-in on the botanical theme without making it feel like you’re sleeping in a greenhouse – which, let’s be honest, could have gone terribly wrong. Instead, you get these beautiful preserved plant specimens under glass, rich green textiles that actually feel luxurious, and this clever use of natural materials that somehow makes a historic building feel completely contemporary. The bathrooms are particularly well done – rainfall showers with pressure that actually works (you’d be surprised how often Prague hotels mess this up), and they stock these gorgeous Czech-made toiletries that I definitely took home with me. One small thing that impressed me: the blackout curtains are legitimate. I slept until 9 AM without realizing it, which never happens to me in city hotels.

What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve nailed the details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The staff seems to genuinely know Prague – not just the tourist spots, but where to get the best goulash at 11 PM or which tram to take to avoid the crowds at the castle. They helped me book a table at Lokál (the good one on Dlouhá, not the tourist trap), and the concierge actually walked outside to point out the shortcut through Havelské Město market. The neighborhood itself is perfect for that authentic Prague experience – you’ve got traditional pubs like U Fleku within walking distance, but you’re also close enough to cross the river for dinner in Malá Strana without planning your whole evening around transit. I stayed here in October when the city gets that gorgeous autumn light, and honestly, stepping out onto Rytířská in the morning with a proper coffee from their lobby café felt like living in Prague rather than just visiting it. At this price point and with a 9.2 rating, The Botanist delivers exactly what it promises – which in Prague, where so many hotels are either sterile modern boxes or over-the-top “historic” theme parks, is refreshingly rare.

  • Our stay was really nice, it was very quiet and the room was clean and very comfortable – Strzelczyk from Poland – 13 July 2025 (8/10)

Definitely that the kitchen was included and a lot of needed equipment but especially the coffee machine. All that, a tv and a great bathroom for this price in this location is amazing.

What could be improved: It would be good if there was instruction to the microwave because we didnt know how to use it

  • Comfortable and nice location – Mayra from Mexico – 12 July 2025 (9/10)

    New and modern and location

  • Well-designed flat everything what you would need in the heart of Prague. – Attila from Hungary – 28 June 2025 (10/10)

The flat is located in the heart of Prague, within walking distance from all attractions. I have stayed in 4 and 5 stars hotels in my life around the world, and this one is just superb. The design is tasteful, the facilities are more than you need (dishwasher, for example), and the finishing of the room and the building is just superb. I found no faults whatsoever. I will certainly stay there next time when I am in Prague.

What could be improved: None, everything was just perfect.

  • Will be back! – Jan from Czech Republic – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location right in the center of Prague. The most beautiful sights of Prague are within easy reach. Although the accommodation is located in the center of Prague, the room was quiet, we were not disturbed by anything. Online check-in worked perfectly. I can only recommend!

  • Will be back! – Karolina from United States – 23 June 2025 (10/10)

I really love the location and property. I am originally from Prague so I can tell you there is not better location. We will be definitely back. Also very responsive staff!

What could be improved: Only tiny, tiny details I would change is use better sheets. Even though they are a good quality I find them quite rough for my sensitive eczema skin.

  • Exceptional – Klára from United States – 22 June 2025 (10/10)

Outstanding! perfect location in the city center, close to public transportation and all historical monuments. Room was perfectly clean and very cozy. Would definitely recommend to anybody who is visiting Prague.
