Studio Mala Strana – Prague historical center Overview
You know what’s funny about Studio Mala Strana? I almost walked right past it the first time because it sits so quietly on Újezd street, tucked between those typical Prague buildings with their weathered facades and heavy wooden doors. But honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place work – it doesn’t scream “tourist hotel” at you, which means you get to feel like you’re actually staying in the neighborhood instead of just visiting it.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the chaos of Old Town. Újezd runs right along the base of Petřin Hill, so you’re literally a five-minute walk from the funicular that’ll take you up to the tower (saves your legs, trust me). Charles Bridge is maybe eight minutes away on foot, but here’s the thing – you can walk there without fighting through the crowds on Nerudova street because you’re approaching from a totally different angle. I mean, the locals actually use this route, which tells you something. Plus, there’s this little bakery called Bakeshop Praha just around the corner that does these incredible croissants – I ended up going there every morning because, well, why wouldn’t you?
The studio itself feels more like staying in someone’s well-designed apartment than a typical hotel room. The space is compact but thoughtfully laid out, with these big windows that let in tons of light during the day. The kitchenette actually works (shocking, I know) and there’s enough counter space to spread out if you grab groceries from the Tesco down the street. Honestly, the 8.6 rating makes sense because while it’s not luxury, everything just… works. The Wi-Fi is solid, the shower has decent pressure, and the heating keeps up with Prague winters – which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. The only minor thing is that Újezd can get a bit busy with trams during rush hour, but the double windows do a pretty good job keeping the noise out.
What really sold me on this place, though, is how it positions you in Mala Strana. You’re close enough to walk to Prague Castle in about fifteen minutes (uphill, but manageable), yet you’re also right there when you want to cross into the city center. And at night? The neighborhood gets wonderfully quiet – you can actually hear the castle bells chiming the hour, which is sort of magical when you’re falling asleep. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, no endless forms or upselling, just keys and directions to the nearest good restaurant (which turned out to be spot-on advice). For the price point and that 3-star classification, Studio Mala Strana delivers exactly what it promises and then some – a genuine Prague experience without the tourist markup.

Reviews of Studio Mala Strana – Prague historical center
Very very good apartment for amazing stay in Prague for few days! – Maksym from Ukraine – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Amazing, very friendly staff! Our flight arrived early morning and the staff did everything for us in order to check in that time. Very good location – at the mornings we could hear a lot of birds from the park just in the vicinity)
What could be improved: Might be noisy with open windows (sometimes it must be open because there is no air conditioning in most of old buildings of Prague)Best location in Prague – Christabelle from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (10/10)
Excellent location, as it's close to Petrin and not too far from old Prague. Very good host. Great communication and very helpful. Liked that there were the basic amenities like tea, coffee, sugar, salt and washing powder.Very accessible to all tram routes.
What could be improved: Stairs a little too steep to the loft, but fun for little children.Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again! – Carla from Portugal – 10 March 2025 (9/10)
I had a great stay at this studio! The location is fantastic: having Petřín forest right outside the window creates a really cozy atmosphere in the studio. The area is convenient and well-connected, making it easy to explore Prague. The studio itself is comfortable, even for a couple with children.
What could be improved: The only small downside was that the shower leaked a bit of water, but it wasn’t a major issue. Also, a small desk or shelf would be a great addition to the studio, as it would provide a convenient place to leave a laptop or other items while eating. If you intend to visit Prague and be in the heart of the City this place is perfect – Flavius from Romania – 6 June 2023 (10/10)
The apartment is beautiful, tastefuly designed and practicaly in the center of the old town. Perfect for visiting Prague. Great price value
What could be improved: –Lovely stay but the apartment is looking a feeling very tired – Andy from United Kingdom – 26 February 2025 (7/10)
Lovely property, and in a great location
What could be improved: Bed very lumpy, not enough pillows. Toaster didn’t work, dishwasher was full of water it needs a bit of a review and upgrade.Good – Selinozturk from Turkey – 6 September 2023 (7/10)
We stayed very comfortably as 1 child and 3 adults. The location was very good and the apartment was bright. Everything was the same as the photos.
What could be improved: I recommend paying attention to cleanliness. The beds were uncomfortable. Hair dryer was not working.Pleasant – Xinva from Poland – 23 October 2022 (6/10)
Location, elevator, large window
What could be improved: The apartment is located in the Mala Strana neighborhood in a decades-old building. One room with a small bathroom. Everything would be OK, but there were problems with cleanliness. The first impression is favorable, but after a while it turns out that many things are broken (no way to turn on the heating, no batteries in the remote control for the radio), unwashed, the floorboards are coming away from the floor, and the quilts were so old and dirty that the first night we slept on the bed without quilts – in sweatpants. I reported this to the owner, who on the second day bought new quilts and replaced them, but the very fact that the apartment is furnished with various old items, is to my disadvantage, especially since the price of a night is quite high and almost the same as in a 4* hotel located 15 meters away.Exceptional – Anonymous from United Kingdom – 5 April 2023 (10/10)
An excellent property with a great host. Michael was very accommodating and informative. He organised travel to and from the airport for us. The apartment is bright and clean and perfect for a small group of friends.
Apartment dirty, poor accommodations but good located – Anonymous from Italy – 13 December 2023 (1/10)
Nothing everything was broken or damaged and I also had to clean myself the apartment because was dirty as the sheets and the duvet cover
What could be improved: EverythingMuy cómodo y céntrico.
