Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Side Street Apartments? The name actually undersells it – yeah, it’s tucked away on Řehořova street, but this isn’t some cramped afterthought of a place. I mean, when you first walk up to number 13, it looks like any other Prague building from the outside, but once you’re inside, it’s honestly got this really solid apartment-hotel vibe that feels way more spacious than most places in the city center.

The thing about staying here is you’re in Vinohrady, which – if you’ve spent any time in Prague – you know is where locals actually want to live. It’s not tourist-central like Old Town, but that’s exactly why it works. You can walk to Náměstí Míru in about ten minutes (there’s this great little bakery on the way that opens ridiculously early), and the metro connection gets you anywhere you need to go without the hassle of navigating those narrow cobblestone streets with your luggage. I actually appreciated that it feels residential – you’ll hear normal life sounds, kids playing in courtyards, people heading to actual jobs, not just the constant hum of tour groups.

The apartments themselves are well… they’re proper apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be bigger than they are. Full kitchens that you’d actually want to cook in, separate living areas where you can spread out, and honestly decent WiFi – which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to figure out Czech train schedules or upload photos without wanting to throw your phone. The 8.8 rating makes sense once you settle in; everything just works without any of those little annoyances that pile up in lesser places. Check-in was straightforward (they’ll meet you with keys if you coordinate ahead), and parking – well, it’s Prague, so street parking is what it is, but at least you’re not dealing with the absolute chaos closer to the castle. The neighborhood gets quiet at night, which is perfect if you’re one of those people who can’t sleep through party noise, but you’re still close enough to walk to dinner in Vinohrady’s restaurant scene without needing a taxi. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living somewhere instead of just passing through.

Location and the apartment had everything we needed!

  • Bum-bác from Slovakia – 8 March 2025 (8/10)

Well tailor-made studio featured basically everything one may need for a comfortable stay.

As a regular traveler, I have learned by now that interiors look much bigger on photographs than they actually do appear, so I had rather expected a much more limited space upon my arrival there. Surprisingly, I was delighted to find out this time they were comfy enough. An overweight person though may deal with a trouble to use a very narrow staircase that leads to the upper gallery, as well to fit to a limited shower corner in the bathroom, secured only with a plastic curtain.

What could be improved: Having accumulated the highest of the Genius levels on Booking, I have stayed in numerous places so far. For that reason, I'd recommend the host to reduce those way long lists of details, or rather rules that guests are supposed to read and follow, all of which I was receiving shortly after my booking.

Ironically enough, I witnessed the first hand that a reconstruction guy working in the next door apartment, was regularly smoking from the window, even though it is not permitted to do so in the building. While an Ukrainian cleaning lady for a change, she was chatting with the remote workman in a very loud manner through the stairway hall one morning, despite the host's rule to keep it quite.😉

What's worst, the host himself ignored my request for one-hour earlier potential check-in, sent him in advance. And when using their internal website to process my personal details, I was soon to find out that based on the information published there in fact, the check-in is allowed from 3 p.m., not at 4 p.m. as stated on their Booking account.

Regardless of that, my stay was worth of the money spent. Yet to reach 10 stars rating, the host must work harder on his listening skills in the first place.
