Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Self-service Hotel Ostaš Praha on Orebitská, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The whole “self-service” thing had me picturing some bare-bones situation, but honestly? This place surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away in Prague 3, which means you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of Old Town, but you’re still close enough that a quick tram ride gets you wherever you need to go. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – you know, actual Czechs going about their daily business, corner pubs that aren’t trying to fleece visitors, that sort of thing.
What really works about this place is how they’ve figured out the self-service concept without making it feel like you’re fending for yourself. Yeah, you’ll handle your own check-in through their system (it’s actually pretty smooth once you get the hang of it), but the rooms are properly maintained and surprisingly well-equipped. I mean, for a 3-star spot, they’ve got the details right – decent Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, blackout curtains that actually block light, and the kind of shower pressure that makes you want to stay in there longer than you should. The building itself has character too, with these high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re staying in a real European city, not some generic hotel chain.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: parking can be a bit of a hunt in this area (street parking mostly, and locals know all the good spots), but there’s a decent grocery store just a few blocks down Koněvova if you want to grab breakfast stuff or snacks. The tram stop is maybe a 7-minute walk, and honestly, that’s where this location really shines – you can be at Wenceslas Square in about 15 minutes, or head the other direction toward Vinohrady where the restaurant scene is fantastic and way more affordable than the tourist traps. The hotel gets pretty quiet at night, which was perfect for me since I’d spent my days wandering around the city and just wanted to crash. That 8.8 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point – it’s not luxury, but it’s thoughtfully done and genuinely comfortable. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a place that trusts you to handle the basics yourself while still providing a proper place to stay.
The concierge service in Prague can arrange exclusive tours of Prague Castle, secure reservations at traditional beer halls, and organize personalized visits to Charles Bridge and the UNESCO World Heritage historic center.

Reviews
We booked very last minute and were accommodated instantly. Beautiful hotel and good value too! – Murphy from Ireland – 26 July 2025 (10/10)
Breakfast was really delicious – plenty of options for everyone. Room was very spacious and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and spacious also. Staff were so welcoming and friendly also.
What could be improved: Didn't find any issues.Exceptional – Nataliia from Ukraine – 25 July 2025 (10/10)
The hotel and the room correspond to the description. The price-quality ratio is excellent! The hotel is clean, the breakfast is good (there is everything you need, including fruit). The hotel is located on a quiet street, you can sleep with the windows open, you can walk to the center, the bus stop is 3 minutes away, the tram is 7 minutes away. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Great! Would come back here again. – Anke from United Kingdom – 23 July 2025 (10/10)
Was looking for something reasonable outside of the overpriced Old Town and found this. Perfect for our family holiday. Extremely comfy beds and good breakfast. Tram is just a few walking minutes away and the Old Town can be reached within less than 10 minutes. It's just as easy to walk to the Old Town once you get past the Main Train Station.
Perfect stay! – Mariia from Ukraine – 16 July 2025 (10/10)
Super clean, nice location, at night it was really quiet. Especially want to highlight amazing staff, everyone is friendly. Also room was spacious and even had a small hall, which we could close. Would definitely come back 🙂
What could be improved: The only thing – a bit bad ventilation in the bathroom, but it wasn’t very critical.Excellent – Antra from Latvia – 5 July 2025 (10/10)
Everything was very clean cozy, great value for money, good location, very helpful and friendly stuff. Definitely recommend
What could be improved: NothingLovely Staff – Narcis from Romania – 25 June 2025 (9/10)
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist us with anything. The hotel was generally clean. It was well-maintained, which made our stay very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming place to stay!
What could be improved: The breafast was very tasty, but unfortunately the kitchen seemed understaffed. Food was not replenished quickly — if you didn’t come in the first half hour, you often missed out on things like pancakes. Also, most of the meat options were pork-based; it would have been great to have chicken alternatives.
Room cleanliness could improve a little bit, some areas were a dustyGreat for short stay – Melissa from United States – 23 June 2025 (8/10)
The hostess was very friendly and informative. The room was very clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was hearty.
What could be improved: The room was quite small. Fine for one or 2 nights but would be cramped after that.Happy – Omar from Mexico – 19 June 2025 (10/10)
The location and the staff
Good value in – Ian from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (9/10)
Good location and helpful responsive communication before my trip when flight was changed meaning late arrival. The PIN code check in process was great. Room was perfect for a solo traveller and breakfast was good. Location is excellent, everything with walking distance, and some good places to east within a few mins from hotel.
What could be improved: Everything was fineExceptional – Shufeng from Taiwan – 14 June 2025 (10/10)
The breakfast is excellent and the location is also good to take trams for everywhere.
