Salvator Boutique Hotel vegan-friendly Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a vegan-friendly boutique hotel in Prague – I mean, the city’s known more for goulash and beer than plant-based cuisine. But the Salvator on Žitná completely changed my perspective, and I say this as someone who’s definitely not vegan but appreciates good food and thoughtful hospitality.

The location is actually perfect if you know Prague at all. Žitná street puts you right in New Town, which sounds touristy but isn’t really – it’s where locals actually live and work. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. The tram stop is literally around the corner, and honestly, Prague’s tram system will get you anywhere faster than walking anyway. What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re still pretty central. The building itself has that solid, old-world feel that dampens street noise really well.

The vegan angle isn’t just a gimmick – they’ve actually thought this through. The breakfast spread had options I’d never seen before (this amazing cashew-based cheese that honestly fooled me), and even their coffee setup uses oat milk that doesn’t taste like punishment. But here’s the thing – even if you’re not into the whole plant-based lifestyle, the quality is just really high across the board. The rooms have this clean, minimalist design that feels expensive without being cold, and the beds are ridiculously comfortable. I’m talking about the kind of mattress that makes you consider asking where they bought it. The bathrooms are compact but smartly designed, with this rainfall shower that actually has decent pressure – you know how hit-or-miss hotel showers can be.

What struck me most was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about the whole experience. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood really well (got great restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps), and they helped me figure out the best route to the castle that avoided the crowds. The concierge actually walked me to the front door to point out which direction to head – small gesture, but it matters when you’re jet-lagged and disoriented. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where people actually hang out and chat, which is rare in boutique hotels that sometimes feel too precious to actually use.

Prague can be overwhelming with all the medieval architecture and tourist chaos, but staying at the Salvator felt like having a calm home base. The neighborhood has great little cafes and shops that cater to locals, not just visitors, and you’ll find yourself walking different routes just to explore. Even if the vegan thing isn’t your priority, the attention to detail and genuine hospitality make this place worth considering – plus that 8.6 rating isn’t just people being polite.

  • Sarahjane from United Kingdom – 4 March 2025 (9/10)

Ricardo and the young gentleman on reception were absolutely lovely, welcoming and friendly. Restaurant staff were ok, 1 stood out, lovely lady that loves cats, she was fabulous.
Bed was really comfortable in our room too.
One more thing … The food was absolutely delicious 😋 highly recommend.

What could be improved: I stripped the bed as I always do before leaving and the pillows and duvet were really stained. I mean REALLY stained. Glad I didn't know till after.
Also one side of our shower door kept coming off the rails which was annoying.
    Apart from that, all good.
