Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Royal Route Residence? The location is absolutely killer – I mean, you’re literally on Celetna Street, which is one of those historic Prague streets that tourists spend hours walking down without realizing they’re staying right in the thick of it. When I stepped out the front door at 23 Celetna, I was maybe a three-minute walk from Old Town Square (honestly, you can probably hear the astronomical clock chiming if you listen carefully from the upper floors). The building itself has that classic Prague charm – it’s one of those beautifully restored places that manages to feel both historic and comfortable, which isn’t always easy to pull off in a city where some “historic” hotels feel more like museums you’re sleeping in.
The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. They’ve got this warm, sophisticated vibe with rich fabrics and dark wood that feels very Central European without being over-the-top themed. Actually, the bathrooms were surprisingly spacious for a historic building – you know how these old Prague places can be with tiny, cramped bathrooms, but they’ve really maximized the space here. The beds are solid (firm but not hard, if that makes sense), and the windows are properly soundproofed, which matters because Celetna can get busy during the day with all the foot traffic heading to and from the major sights. I stayed there in late spring, and honestly, the street quiets down nicely in the evenings, so you get the best of both worlds.
What really sets this place apart is how it sits right in the flow of Prague life. You’re not tucked away in some business district – when you walk out, you’re immediately part of that magical Prague experience. Powder Tower is right there, Wenceslas Square is a quick stroll, and if you want to duck into one of those cozy Prague pubs, there are several excellent ones within a block or two (though honestly, you might want to ask the front desk for recommendations since some of the closest ones are pretty touristy). The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood, which I appreciated – they pointed me toward a great coffee spot on a side street that I never would have found otherwise. With an 8.9 rating, you’re getting that sweet spot of location, comfort, and service without paying five-star prices. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Prague rather than just visiting it, if that distinction makes sense to you.

unbeatable location few steps from old town square and jewish town

Literally everything was perfect, the location, the ease of getting in and out, the host were amazing and provided so much information about prague and the apartment itself as well! I could not have asked for a better place in the city! 🙂
What could be improved: literally nothing… but maybe don’t rent as a family on a weekend? the ease of “going out” is definitely felt here as the old town streets are rowdy on weekend days. but that’s not even anything the host can change (we also enjoyed the atmosphere!) as college age girls it was perfecttt 😛Na from United Kingdom – 12 February 2025 (9/10)
Location. Location , location. 5min walk to old town center. Walking distance to everything.
What could be improved: Unluckily, we got someone smoke outside our door.Geoffrey from Australia – 9 February 2025 (9/10)
fantastic location on a popular tourist route and very close to the old town square

all was great

Great location for checking out old town.
What could be improved: Walk through shop to get to stairs to roomsLászló from Hungary – 6 January 2025 (9/10)
The place is literally in downtown. The entrance to the stairway is re-used as a shop! Very close to most of the sights, no need for using public transport. The flat is spacious, high ceiling (4m+) creates a nice atmosphere. The toilet has a separated sink and the bathroom is really good. The kitchen (and its table) is big enough for 6 people.
What could be improved: You should leave your car in a P+R garage and use public transport to get there. The flat is in a pedestrian area. Luckily the P+R garage system is very good in Prague!
Being in the downtown – it is noisy through the night, despite the sound insulation. Not recommended for light sleepers.Joshua from Australia – 27 December 2024 (8/10)
The location is very convenient to explore Prague. The room has nice finishes, a comfortable bed and pillows. Very spacious, good kitchen and value for money.
What could be improved: Initially not overly easy to find, you have to actually walk through a small shop (which is described as a market on the booking). As with most European rooms, the sound proofing is non-existent so it can be noisy at times given proximity to city centre.Amy from United States – 26 December 2024 (9/10)
The location! Bed was comfortable. Place was clean and well stocked. Communication was excellent with the owner. Oh and did I mention, location
What could be improved: 3 flights of stairs to get to the place. Kind of odd to walk through a souvenir shop to get to the stairs. But it was convenient when we needed a beer after all our adventures to get it on the way up to the place.Paul from New Zealand – 20 December 2024 (9/10)
Everything especially the owner and location
What could be improved: Nothing
