Royal Court Hotel

Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the Royal Court Hotel on Wenzigova Street, you get this immediate sense that you’ve found something good without breaking the bank. It’s one of those three-star places that actually gets it right — the kind of hotel where the staff remembers your name after one night and the lobby feels warm rather than stuffy. The building itself has that classic European charm you’d expect in Prague, but honestly, what struck me most was how genuinely welcoming everyone seemed from the moment I stepped inside.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of Old Town Square at all hours. Wenzigova puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to Wenceslas Square in about ten minutes, but when you come back at night, it’s actually quiet enough to sleep. The tram connections are fantastic too, which locals will tell you is half the battle in Prague. I mean, you’ve got the 22 tram right there that’ll take you pretty much anywhere you need to go.

The Room Experience

My room was on the third floor — nothing fancy, but everything worked exactly as it should. The bed was comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), the shower had proper water pressure, and there was enough space to actually unpack without feeling cramped. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details: good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and windows that actually opened for fresh air. You know what’s rare? A hotel room where the WiFi works perfectly in every corner.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in this cozy ground-floor space that feels more like a neighborhood café than a hotel dining room. Nothing elaborate, but the coffee’s strong, the pastries are fresh, and they’ve got local options alongside the standard continental spread. The staff running the restaurant area clearly know their regulars — I watched them chat with guests in three different languages during one morning. There’s also secure parking available, which honestly saved me a lot of stress navigating Prague’s parking situation.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-run hotel that focuses on the basics and executes them really well. The couples who stay here seem to get it — you’re paying for a great location, reliable comfort, and service that feels personal rather than corporate. I’ve stayed in fancier places in Prague that left me feeling like just another credit card number, but the Royal Court Hotel actually feels like they want you to have a good time in their city. Sometimes that’s worth more than marble bathrooms and fancy amenities.

3 night break

Our room, after we had paid 30 euro, for an upgrade.
Staff were friendly.
Beds comfortable.
Underfloor heating in bathroom.
Size of room .
Bathrobes .

What could be improved: I had requested a quiet room, on 3 different occasions, as we were celebrating my birthday.
The hotel replied, saying that they would do their best.
Their best turned out to be a room, directly opposite the lift and overlooking the quite busy and sometimes noisy street.
To be fair, though.
I was offered an upgrade to a superior room, which overlooked the back and much quieter part of the hotel. It cost me 10 euro, per night , which I didn't mind paying.
There is not much nightlife around the hotel.
Only 1 tea bag, per night, and no UHT, milk, for tea and coffee.

Very good

- The room was equipped with a TV, which was a nice touch for entertainment during my stay.
- The bathroom was well-maintained and clean, providing a comfortable space.
- The bed was very comfortable, allowing for a good night's sleep.
- The hotel is located in a relatively central area of Prague, making it convenient for exploring the city.
- The staff were friendly and accommodating, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.

What could be improved: - One downside was the breakfast hours, which were from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. This felt a bit too short, especially since many hotels offer breakfast until 10 or 11 AM. It's challenging for guests who prefer to relax and not rush in the morning, particularly when on vacation.
- While the breakfast itself was decent, I felt there could be a bit more variety in the options available to cater to different tastes.
