Royal Court Hotel Overview

Okay, so the Royal Court Hotel isn’t going to blow you away from the outside – it’s tucked on Wenzigova, which honestly most tourists walk right past without noticing. But that’s actually part of what I like about it. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window every morning.

The lobby has this sort of old-world charm that feels authentic without being stuffy – I mean, this is Prague, so you expect a bit of grandeur, right? What surprised me was how quiet the rooms are, especially considering you’re still in New Town. The staff actually seems to care, which you don’t always get at three-star places. I had an issue with the shower temperature (lukewarm at best), and they moved me to a different room within an hour. No drama, no forms to fill out. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re clean and comfortable, but don’t expect anything Instagram-worthy. Think functional European hotel room with decent beds and enough space for your suitcase without doing gymnastics around it.

Here’s what really works about this place – the location is genuinely useful. You can walk to the main train station in about eight minutes, which saved me a ton on taxi fare getting to and from the airport train. There’s a little grocery store right around the corner on Ječná street where locals actually shop, not one of those tourist traps charging five euros for water. And honestly? The neighborhood feels more real. You’ll see people walking their dogs in the morning, not just tour groups with matching umbrellas. The tram stop is practically next door – take the 11 or 5 and you’re at Prague Castle in fifteen minutes, or hop the metro at Muzeum and you’re anywhere you want to be. Parking is street parking only, which can be a pain, but most people don’t need a car in Prague anyway. Check-in was smooth, even when I arrived at 2 PM on a Friday (prime chaos time). The breakfast is nothing special but it’s included and there’s actual coffee, not just that instant stuff some places try to pass off. Would I stay here again? Yeah, probably. It’s honest about what it is – a solid, no-fuss base for exploring Prague that won’t eat your entire travel budget.

Reviews of Royal Court Hotel

  • Very good – Lemonia from United Kingdom – 5 July 2025 (8/10)

The hotel and rooms were exceptionally clean and the staff were very kind and helpful, especially Oleksandra at Reception!

  • 3 night break – Anthony from United Kingdom – 24 March 2025 (8/10)

Our room, after we had paid 30 euro, for an upgrade.
    Staff were friendly.
    Beds comfortable.
    Underfloor heating in bathroom.
    Size of room .
    Bathrobes .

What could be improved: I had requested a quiet room, on 3 different occasions, as we were celebrating my birthday.
The hotel replied, saying that they would do their best.
Their best turned out to be a room, directly opposite the lift and overlooking the quite busy and sometimes noisy street.
    To be fair, though.
I was offered an upgrade to a superior room, which overlooked the back and much quieter part of the hotel. It cost me 10 euro, per night , which I didn't mind paying.
There is not much nightlife around the hotel.
Only 1 tea bag, per night, and no UHT, milk, for tea and coffee.

  • Very good – Marceau from Belgium – 16 March 2025 (8/10)

    – The room was equipped with a TV, which was a nice touch for entertainment during my stay.
    – The bathroom was well-maintained and clean, providing a comfortable space.
    – The bed was very comfortable, allowing for a good night's sleep.
    – The hotel is located in a relatively central area of Prague, making it convenient for exploring the city.
    – The staff were friendly and accommodating, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.

What could be improved: – One downside was the breakfast hours, which were from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. This felt a bit too short, especially since many hotels offer breakfast until 10 or 11 AM. It's challenging for guests who prefer to relax and not rush in the morning, particularly when on vacation.
    – While the breakfast itself was decent, I felt there could be a bit more variety in the options available to cater to different tastes.

  • Beautiful, chic and lovely sweet staff – Matthew from Australia – 23 December 2024 (9/10)

The location, the slanted roof, the window being openable and the comfort of the bed. The receptionists were also lovely and gave us a free shot of Czech liquor on check-in, and also printed a train ticket for us.

What could be improved: On the last night, there were very noisy people above us after 11pm. Not the fault of the staff, but I felt more could have been done to get the people to be quiet.

  • Mini break – Anne from United Kingdom – 8 October 2024 (8/10)

Located near nice bars and restaurants

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Friendly staff in great location close to historic centre of Prague. Very clean and buffet style breakfast was fulsome a – Katherine from United Kingdom – 20 September 2024 (9/10)

Close to historic centre in characterful building

What could be improved: Close to a emergency services station, so lots of sirens, but Storm Boris was going on. Iron needed for clothes.

  • Enjoyed stay – David from Ireland – 16 September 2024 (9/10)

The room was perfect, bed was very comfy and the bathroom was spotless. The staff were lovely and friendly plus very helpful a big thanks to everyone.
Would definitely recommend staying here to family and friends.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Excellent service – Renee from Australia – 6 June 2024 (9/10)

Great that the rooms have been modernised and updated… still would love to see some rustic Czech charm

What could be improved: Small things like no tissues or milk for coffee when there were coffee facilities in the room. Very minor things

  • Prague 29th April 3rd of May – Cindy from United Kingdom – 4 May 2024 (7/10)

The hotel is situated in a good location to most attractions. The young lady at reception was really lovely. Her name is Ai. Very polite and well-mannered, she looked after me while I was waiting for my taxi.
You must like walking if you are thinking of going to Prague. There are trams and taxis also but you see more on foot.

  • Price & performance hotel. Good for family – Can from Turkey – 1 May 2024 (8/10)

    Stuff and clean

What could be improved: 2 station away from main historical district
