You know what caught me off guard about Riverside N22? I was expecting another generic business hotel tucked away in Prague’s theater district, but this place actually has some personality. The building sits right on Divadelní street – which, yeah, means “theater” in Czech – and you’re literally a three-minute walk from the National Theatre’s back entrance. I mean, you can hear the occasional late-night crowd dispersing after shows, but it’s more charming than disruptive.

The whole setup feels deliberately understated in that good way. Check-in was refreshingly quick (no lengthy spiel about amenities I’ll never use), and honestly, the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Wenceslas Square without dealing with tourist crowds, the front desk guy gave me this route through Národní street that locals use – saved me about fifteen minutes of elbow-to-elbow walking. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “quietly sophisticated” – clean lines, decent space, and those heavy curtains that actually block out the morning light if you’re dealing with jet lag. The bathrooms are surprisingly well-designed too, with enough counter space that you’re not playing Tetris with your toiletries.

What really sells this place, though, is the location without the location tax, if that makes sense. You’re right in the thick of things – Kampa Island is maybe a seven-minute stroll, and you can walk to Old Town Square in under fifteen – but you’re not paying those insane rates that hotels directly on the tourist strips charge. The tram stop at Národní divadlo is practically outside your door, which connects you to basically everywhere you’d want to go in Prague. I noticed a lot of repeat business guests during my stay, which usually tells you something about a place. The breakfast setup isn’t revolutionary, but it’s solid and they actually have decent coffee (not always a given in Central Europe, honestly). Only minor gripe? The elevators are a bit slow, but that’s typical for older buildings in this part of the city. With a 9.3 rating, I get why people keep coming back – it’s that sweet spot of being professional without being stuffy, central without being chaotic.
