Riben House Prague Overview

So I stumbled across Riben House Prague when I was looking for something that wasn’t another cookie-cutter hotel in the tourist maze, and honestly? It turned out to be exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for. The thing is, Řeznická Street sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Old Town that you can walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups and those awful medieval restaurant touts at 7 AM.

The building itself has this understated charm – I mean, it’s not going to blow you away with some grand lobby, but there’s something really appealing about the way they’ve kept the original character while actually making it comfortable to stay in. You know what I noticed right away? The floors don’t creak like they do in half the “historic” places around here, and the rooms are properly insulated so you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels just hand you a generic city map and call it a day. When I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he told me which tram to catch and mentioned this little wine bar I never would have found otherwise.

What really won me over was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The WiFi works properly (tested it on a video call – no issues), there’s decent water pressure, and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into a marshmallow. The breakfast setup is solid without being fancy – good coffee, local pastries, and they don’t make you feel rushed if you want to sit there planning your day. I’ll be honest, the 7.8 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect, and the rooms could use slightly better lighting for reading, but it gets the important stuff right. If you’re the type who wants to stay somewhere that feels more like a well-run local spot than a international chain, and you don’t need a concierge in a top hat, this place makes a lot of sense. Plus, you’re a quick walk to some of the best traditional pubs in the city, which the guidebooks somehow always miss.

Reviews of Riben House Prague

  • Maeva from Canada – 18 June 2023 (9/10)

cozy at home, nice property, bigger than we expected, nice shower and there is always candy in the lobby.

What could be improved: i didn’t like the fact where I had to go to another location to check in and then get to an other for the room. we had already arrived in front of the door of the apartment when we received a message that we had to go somewhere else to get the rules and codes

  • Fernando from United States – 4 February 2025 (9/10)

    Good price and clean place.

What could be improved: The sink at the bathroom it's very small.

  • Linda from United Kingdom – 27 January 2025 (8/10)

In a quiet road but near Wenceslas square and walkable to the old town, close to metro and trans

What could be improved: You had to go through a bedroom to access the kitchen

  • Jekaterina from Lithuania – 27 January 2025 (8/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Very cold place

  • Sarah from United Kingdom – 21 December 2024 (9/10)

accommodation was great lovely and clean. very spacious. everything we needed in there. good location for central Prague

What could be improved: the check in process was a little awkward as we got our taxi to the address and had to collect keys from elsewhere (this was explained after booking) it wasn't too far but I had to leave the young kids with the eldest to go as it was far with bags etc. not the end of the world just a slight inconvenience.

  • Patricia from Australia – 8 September 2024 (8/10)

Very close to the city & transport. The lift was great. Room was spacious, clean & and comfortable bed.

What could be improved: Advertised as having a fan, however no fan. We reached out via what’s app but got no response. At night we had to keep the windows open for air, unfortunately neighbours & restaurant/bars across the road very noisy. We still slept well as lots of walking exploring beautiful Prague. Also balcony is in their other building not this one, disappointing. Room needs chairs.

  • Wong from Hong Kong – 17 May 2024 (8/10)

    very helpful and cheerful staffs,
    provide useful information
    solving problem immediately

  • Cheryl from Canada – 8 October 2023 (8/10)

We had no prior information that we had to go to another place to get the key- this was never communicated in advance. Luckily we ran into another family who were staying there who helped us.

What could be improved: Check in. Also a toaster is needed.

  • Sasikumar from United Kingdom – 12 July 2023 (8/10)

It is located centrally and has all the listed amenities

What could be improved: Their was shoddy repair work done on one of the beds. Wherein a pan was used to prop up one of the legs. This slipped and fell down in the middle of the night. Even after complaining, a proper repair was not done during the course of our stay. This affected an otherwise good stay.

  • Alex from Estonia – 13 June 2023 (9/10)

Location, cleanliness, possibility to checkout anytime.

What could be improved: Very noisy. Weak walls isolation. No faucet in the shower. Lack of power outlets.
