Residence Tabor Overview

Honestly, Residence Tabor caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how Prague’s tourist center can feel a bit overwhelming with all the crowds and overpriced everything? Well, this place sits just far enough from the madness on Taboritska street – which, let me tell you, most visitors have never heard of but locals definitely know. It’s in Vinohrady, this residential neighborhood that actually feels like Prague instead of a theme park version of it.

The building itself has that understated Czech charm – none of the flashy renovations you see closer to Old Town, but everything feels solid and well-maintained. Walking in, there’s this quiet efficiency about the place that I really appreciated. The lobby doesn’t try to impress you with marble and chandeliers (thank god), just clean lines and that particular European attention to detail you notice in the little things, like how the door handles feel substantial or how the hallways actually have decent lighting. I mean, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect a spa or anything, but what they do, they do right. The rooms are honestly bigger than what you’d get for similar money in the city center, and here’s something I loved – the windows actually open properly, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels mess this up.

What really sold me on this spot was the neighborhood vibe. You’re maybe a 15-minute tram ride from Wenceslas Square, but you’re also walking distance from Náměstí Míru with its gorgeous Art Nouveau facades and that amazing farmers market on Saturdays. There’s this little bakery around the corner – I won’t tell you exactly which one because I’m selfish like that – but the smell of fresh bread hits you every morning around 7 AM. The tram connections are actually better than being dead center anyway; you can get anywhere without fighting through tourist clusters, and parking (if you’re driving) isn’t the nightmare it is closer in. Evenings are wonderfully quiet – well, Prague-quiet, which means you’ll hear some trams but no drunk bachelor parties stumbling around at 3 AM. The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or become the highlight of your trip, but that 8.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there. It’s the kind of place that just works – comfortable beds, reliable hot water, decent WiFi, and you wake up feeling like you actually stayed in Prague rather than some international hotel bubble.

To book a hotel in Prague during the famous Easter Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts history enthusiasts and architecture lovers from around the world.

  • Very happy with the property and location, would recommend it – Julie from Guernsey – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

Really good location, out of the centre but tram stop right outside so quick and easy to get into city centre. Reception sold tram tickets too.
I was on top floor so it was quiet. Breakfast had plenty of choice. Nice to have the fridge and microwave in the room. All very clean, I was very happy.

What could be improved: I could hear extractor fan from other rooms, but because there was another door on the hallway I couldn't hear doors slamming, which was good

  • Very good – Louise from United Kingdom – 12 March 2025 (8/10)

Great location, friendly welcoming staff. Quiet enough, and amenities are in the area.

What could be improved: Not that we didn't like it as such but it is basic. We knew what we were booking, you cant knock the value for money though.

  • Superb – Anna from United Kingdom – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

The place is right by the tram stop so it’s easy to get into the town. You can buy travel tickets at the reception at Golden City Hotel which is just across the road. The room was spacious and clean, had a desk, lamp, mini fridge, tv, wardrobe which were all useful.
