Residence St Havel Prague Old Town

Prague, Czech Republic
Havelska 500/25, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of Prague hotels over the years, and honestly? The Residence St Havel hit differently. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone actually thought about this” – that’s what happened here. It’s tucked right on Havelska Street, which means you’re literally a two-minute stumble from Wenceslas Square, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: you’re also perfectly positioned to duck into Havelské Tržiště market in the morning for the best coffee and pastries before the tour groups descend.

The building itself has that Prague magic – I mean, everything here is old, but this one feels authentically lived-in rather than museum-stuffy. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully appointed” (god, I hate that phrase, but it fits). Actually spacious, which is rare in Old Town, with windows that open properly – you’ll want that in summer, trust me. The beds are legitimately comfortable, not just “decent for Europe” comfortable. And the bathrooms… well, they’ve got proper water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled through Central Europe will appreciate. I stayed during a busy September week and never heard my neighbors, which is saying something given how thin walls can be in these converted historical buildings.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach – they’re not trying to be your best friend, but they know their stuff. The front desk guy (Pavel, I think?) actually drew me a little map showing which streets to take to avoid the worst crowds when heading to Charles Bridge, and pointed out a wine bar on Retezova that I never would have found otherwise. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in Czech koruna. The location really is the star here though – you’re close enough to everything that matters (the castle views from Petrin Hill are a 15-minute walk), but far enough from the main tourist drags that you can actually get some sleep. Plus, there’s a Tesco Express basically around the corner if you need water or snacks, which saved me multiple times after long days of walking on cobblestones. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type who likes to feel like you’re actually in Prague rather than just visiting it.

Hotels in Prague offer guests the perfect blend of Gothic grandeur and modern comfort, with many featuring traditional Czech beer concierge services and medieval architecture to enhance the authentic Central European cultural experience.

Excellent location, the staff were very helpful and polite. The apartment was very clean and spacious. I loved the fact that the door had an extra lock from the inside and the alley downstairs closed at night. Only residence can enter the building. Felt safe. I highly recommend it.

Excellent location, just off the Old Town square. Very clean apartment. Easy room code key system. Good facilities. Nice and warm which was needed as we stayed here in Feb.

Check in and out all done on a third party app, this is where you also get your room key. No physical check-in or face to face. We never actually saw a staff member the whole stay. Really made it feel like our own little home for the duration of out stay.

We will definitely be looking to stay here again on a future visit to Prague!

What could be improved: Nothing to mention.
