You know what struck me first about Residence Rybna 9? The building itself – it’s this gorgeous historic structure right in the heart of Old Town that somehow manages to feel both grand and intimate at the same time. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Powder Tower and maybe a three-minute walk to the astronomical clock, but the street itself (Rybná) is actually pretty quiet, especially considering how crazy central Prague can get during peak season.

The apartments here are honestly more spacious than I expected – and I’ve stayed in a lot of Prague “residences” that turned out to be glorified hotel rooms. These feel like actual places you could live in for a while, with proper kitchens and sitting areas that don’t make you feel cramped after day two. The decor walks that fine line between modern comfort and respecting the building’s history, though I’ll be honest, some of the furniture feels a bit generic. But the windows – oh man, the windows are these beautiful tall things that let in tons of light, and if you’re lucky enough to get a upper floor unit, the views over the red rooftops are exactly what you came to Prague to see.

What I really appreciated was how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about good places for breakfast that weren’t tourist traps, the front desk guy sent me to this little bakery on Dlouhá Street that I never would have found otherwise. And here’s something practical – parking is absolutely brutal in this area (I mean, it’s Old Town), but they can arrange spots in a garage about five minutes away, which honestly might save your sanity if you’re driving. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me because while everything works well and the location is unbeatable, it’s not trying to be some luxury palace. It’s just a really solid, comfortable base for exploring Prague, with enough character to make you feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just another chain hotel. The only minor downside? Weekend nights can get a bit lively since you’re so close to all the bars and restaurants, but honestly, that’s sort of the point of staying in Old Town, isn’t it?
