Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Residence Řipská 26? It’s honestly one of those places that feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s apartment than a typical hotel. I mean, it’s tucked into this quiet residential street in Prague’s Smíchov district – actually about a 15-minute tram ride from the city center, which sounds far but really isn’t once you figure out Prague’s surprisingly efficient public transport system.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Czech architecture vibe – nothing flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. When I walked in, the lobby was small and understated, sort of like someone’s really clean living room rather than a grand hotel entrance. The staff at check-in were refreshingly straightforward (very Prague, honestly) – they’ll give you practical information without the overly enthusiastic welcome spiel you get at chain hotels. What I really appreciated was how they actually knew the neighborhood – like, they told me which direction to walk to find the good bakery and warned me that the tram gets packed around 8 AM with commuters heading into town.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place, but here’s the thing – they’re genuinely comfortable rather than just adequate. The beds are firm in that European way that somehow leaves you sleeping better than expected, and there’s actually enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of your suitcase. I stayed on the third floor and it was properly quiet at night, which surprised me since Prague can get pretty lively. You can hear the occasional tram rumbling by, but it’s more comforting than disruptive – sort of reminds you that you’re in a real neighborhood where people actually live and work. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly fine for video calls back home, and honestly, the shower had better water pressure than my last apartment in London.

What really won me over was the location once I got my bearings. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from Old Town Square, but you’re genuinely in Prague rather than tourist-land Prague, if that makes sense. There’s this excellent traditional pub called U Fleku just a short walk away – locals actually drink there, not just tour groups taking photos of their beer. The Nový Smíchov shopping center is practically around the corner if you need anything practical, and the riverside path along the Vltava is perfect for morning runs or evening walks when you need a break from cobblestones and crowds.

Look, this isn’t the kind of place you book for Instagram photos or bragging rights – it’s the kind of place you book when you want to sleep well, save some money for actual experiences, and stay somewhere that feels authentic rather than manufactured. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not perfect, but it gets all the important stuff right without any pretense. If you’re the type of traveler who values substance over style and doesn’t mind a quick tram ride to reach the tourist spots, you’ll probably love it here as much as I did.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Prague at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous cultural festivals and outdoor concerts.

Reviews

  • Okay price for what you get. It was clean, smelled great and the location is really really nice. Hosts are very hepful! – Tamara from Serbia – 29 October 2024 (8/10)

Very clean and smelled amazing. Location is awesome, much to do in the surrounding area and by metro and tram you can get to the city centre in about 20min.

What could be improved: Even though it’s a double bed, it is actually two separate mattresses for one that are next to each other. Not really suitable for couples and not that comfortable. But other than that, everything else was great.

  • Great property, clean modern and location was good. – Aalia from United Kingdom – 15 October 2024 (9/10)

Modern and clean. The property has a folder with a lot of useful information and guidance about the city.

What could be improved: Not being able to store luggage after checking out

  • lovely weekend – Antonella from Italy – 9 October 2024 (8/10)

Teresa, the host, Is Always available and kind, She send you all the information via email but when I needed I phoned her and She was very kind.
The Building Is well connected with the city center, you find the metro around the corner. There Is also a nice cafè where you can have breakfast, like a local.
The room Is clean, warm and cosy.
The toilets has all you Need.

What could be improved: I would have preferred bigger pillows and longer bedsheet (my boyfriend Is 185cm tall and his feet where outsider the sheets😂)

  • Great Experience overall ! – Tim from Ukraine – 27 March 2024 (9/10)

    Location and Host

What could be improved: Noisy neighbours sometimes

  • Superb – Bahzara from Canada – 3 November 2023 (9/10)

This place totally met my expectations. Was met by a staff member who showed me around the property and also gave some nice tips about the city, very knowledgeable guy.
The room was super cozy, with everything one may need. Could have used some plates if there were any available, but not a deal breaker.
Would recommend and also stay again.

What could be improved: Nothing overly negative. You can hear a whole lot of what's going on in the building. My next-door neighbors, a young couple, got too excited at some point late in the night and decided to have some "fun." Obviously, I heard everything.
Other than that, the place is very quiet.
Unfortunately, the nearest subway station was shut during my stay, so I had to walk a bit longer to get to the next one.

  • Very good – Saravanan from Serbia – 8 November 2024 (8/10)

NICE HOST, CLEAN PLACE, NO PUNGENT SMELL, INTERNET WAS GOOD.EASY ACCESS TO METRO AND BUS. OVERALL GOOD

What could be improved: Only the Insulation, could hear what neighbors was speaking and feel what they are doing

  • This is a great location, clean and remodeled apartment for good cost. – Laura from United States – 8 December 2023 (8/10)

The location is perfect! Close to all major public transport, near good restaurants and bars, good shopping and groceries too. The apartment was a good size, nicely remodeled. Staff was attentive the whole time.

What could be improved: The bed was a bit uncomfortable. It was very cold at night, the heater didn’t work. Sometimes it was noisy when there were loud neighbors at night, can hear easily through walls. The doors to the outside are locked between a certain hour. I had to leave early in the morning for the airport and was locked in, luckily someone was walking outside and had a key!

  • Good – Baran from Netherlands – 22 October 2024 (7/10)

room that covers the basic needs with tv and good shower.

What could be improved: beds/pillow can be more comfortable.

  • Very good – Nadezda from Serbia – 3 May 2024 (8/10)

Great location, if you use the metro you can be in the city centre in 12 minutes. The host was very nice and replied to our messages promptly. There are a couple of cafes and a mini market nearby.

What could be improved: No cleaning. The walls are paper thin so if you are a light sleeper you need ear plugs. The room is in a basement, there is a window, but it is pretty dark in the room in the morning. For total transparency i would suggest that if the room is in a basement it should be noted somewhere : ).

  • Decent accommodation but would avoid it it possible. – Irene from Japan – 2 January 2025 (4/10)

The location was good. Close to train and trams and in a nice neighborhood.
The check in process was smooth.
    Clean room/building and clean bathroom.

What could be improved: The staff promised to help if needed but when we needed help they responded many hours later. When we needed help because we couldn’t access our keys on the second day, we called and they were quite rude on the phone and not responsive by text.
Limited storage space in the room.
