Overview

You know what struck me first about Residence Jecna? The building itself – it’s got this understated elegance that feels properly Prague without trying too hard. I mean, you’re right in Vinohrady, which honestly is where you want to be if you’re not staying directly in Old Town. The area has this lived-in feel that tourists usually miss, with actual Czechs going about their day instead of just souvenir shops everywhere.

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure it out. Jecna street might not ring a bell at first, but you’re basically a five-minute walk from Karlovo náměstí (which, despite the name, is actually a park – go figure). From there, the metro connections are solid, and I found myself walking to Wenceslas Square more often than not because the route takes you through some of those gorgeous Art Nouveau neighborhoods that make Prague special. There’s this little corner bakery about two blocks down that does proper Czech pastries if you get there before 9 AM – after that, forget it.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel doesn’t feel like a hotel, if that makes sense. The rooms have this apartment-style setup that actually works, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The kitchenette isn’t just for show either – there’s a Tesco about a ten-minute walk away if you want to grab supplies. The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, which you notice more when you’re trying to figure out Prague’s somewhat… creative… public transport schedules. Honestly, the 8.7 rating feels about right – it’s the kind of place that gets the important stuff right without any major surprises, good or bad. The neighborhood gets quiet at night (well, Prague quiet, which means you might hear some trams), and I never felt like I was staying in a tourist bubble. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually in Prague rather than just visiting it, this works really well.
