Hotel Description
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Residence Glamour Excellent on Vojtěšská, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But once you step inside this 4-star spot, you realize they’re not kidding around. The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Prague at all – you’re tucked into this quiet cobblestone street in Old Town, but literally a three-minute walk puts you at the edge of Wenceslas Square. I mean, you can grab your morning coffee and be people-watching at the astronomical clock before most tourists have even figured out how to use their hotel key cards.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep that historic Prague charm without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The rooms have these gorgeous high ceilings (you know, the kind that make you want to take photos even though they never capture how impressive they actually are in person), and the windows open onto views of red tile roofs and church spires that look straight out of a postcard. The beds are seriously comfortable too – none of that rock-hard European mattress stereotype here. I actually slept better than I do at home, which is saying something considering the church bells start up around 7 AM. But honestly? It’s kind of magical waking up to those bells echoing off the medieval buildings.
The staff definitely knows their stuff about the neighborhood, which matters more than you’d think in a city like Prague. They’ll tell you to skip the touristy restaurants on the main drag and point you toward this little wine bar on Nerudova Street instead, or mention that the tram stop on Národní is less crowded than the one everyone talks about online. Parking can be tricky in this part of town – well, it’s tricky everywhere in Prague’s center – but they’ve got arrangements with a garage that’s only about a five-minute walk away. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s one of those places that just gets the details right without being fussy about it. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works (trust me, not a given in these old buildings), and the shower pressure was surprisingly solid for a historic property. You’re paying for the location and the experience here, but it feels worth it when you can stumble back to your room after dinner in Lesser Town without dealing with trams or taxis.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Prague at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous cultural festivals and outdoor concerts.
