Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Residence Dvorak? It’s actually tucked away on this tiny island – Kampa Island – that most tourists rush past on their way to Charles Bridge. I mean, you’re literally staying on what locals call “Prague’s Venice,” and honestly, that’s not just marketing fluff. The location is sort of magical in this understated way, especially early morning when the mist comes off the Vltava and you’ve got the whole cobblestone area practically to yourself.

The building itself feels like someone’s well-to-do aunt converted her 14th-century townhouse into a boutique hotel – which, come to think of it, might not be far from the truth. There’s this perfect balance where it feels genuinely historic (creaky wooden floors, thick stone walls that keep things blissfully quiet) but they’ve actually modernized everything that matters. The rooms have this warm, lived-in elegance – think rich fabrics and antique touches without feeling like a museum. And the bathrooms? Way better than you’d expect from a building this old. I was honestly prepared for some medieval shower situation, but no complaints there.

What really sells this place is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re a two-minute walk from Charles Bridge, but here’s the thing – you approach it from the Kampa side, so you skip most of the tourist chaos. The little park right outside has these massive old trees and usually some art installations (there’s this cool contemporary sculpture garden), and it connects to Petřin Hill if you’re into that morning jog thing. For dinner, you’ve got Kampa Park restaurant literally next door – pricey but the river views are insane – or you can wander five minutes to Lesser Town and find way better value. The tram stop at Malostranské náměstí is close enough when your feet give out from all the walking, but far enough that you’re not dealing with tram noise at night.

Look, it’s definitely pricier than staying across the river in New Town, and parking is… well, good luck with that (though they can arrange something if you ask nicely). But if you want to feel like you’re staying in the “real” Prague – the Prague that existed before tour groups and Airbnb – this is probably as close as you’ll get without actually crashing on someone’s couch. That 8.9 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without trying too hard to impress you.

Reviews

  • Juraj from Switzerland – 15 October 2024 (9/10)

    Excellent location
    Roomy suite
    Comfortable bed
    Complimentary tea and coffee

What could be improved: Stairs are really steep, pay attention if this could be an issue (this was not a problem for us)

  • Terezie from Netherlands – 30 March 2025 (8/10)

It's perfectly located on Kampa at the edge of Moldau river. You're surrounded by everything you wish to see in Prague.
I'm travelling with my whippet so this is perfect with Petrin just across the street and Kampa park next to the apartment.

What could be improved: I love the apartments!

  • Courtney from United States – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

The location was excellent with easy access to everything. It was a quiet neighborhood, which was exactly what we wanted. The suite was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. We would definitely stay here again.

What could be improved: One thing to note is that the reception isn’t staffed 24/7, with limited hours from Thursday to Sunday. This wasn’t an issue for us, but some might find it an issue if they need assistance outside of those times.

My review is related to the sister property Hotel Klarov.
Due to technical issues at Dvorak Hotel, our booking has been changed to Hotel Klarov and we were not disappointed about this solution: the hotel is great with huge rooms, in a good and very quiet location just outside the busy city centre at a 10 minutes walk from Charles Bridge and the Castle. The breakfast is great. A special thanks to the guy who welcomed us at check-in in a very professional manner, providing us with all the necessary information.

  • Sylvie from France – 30 December 2024 (9/10)

The location well located but super quiet
The place was super comfortable and cost
    The staff very accommodating

  • Catherine from Belgium – 3 December 2024 (8/10)

The hotel was at a postcard location, very near the bridge and the cozy streets. The room was very beautiful and had everything that we needed. The bistro had wonderful food. The room was not cleaned during our stay. For us that is not important but maybe it is for other people. I would definitely go back to this hotel next time.

What could be improved: Some of the staff were not so friendly but that seemed to be normal for Prague. We came across a lot of people in shops and restaurants that were not really friendly. Unfortunately there was not enough communication about checkout. We were left alone in an empty Hotel not knowing there would not be breakfast because they were closed on Monday. They did not answer the phone but I did get a message a few hours after I mailed them asking them about check out. But as l said, l would definitely choose this hotel again next time.

  • David from United Kingdom – 27 November 2024 (9/10)

Location is second to non. Rooms are very large and airy. The area is excellent.

  • C from Canada – 6 November 2024 (9/10)

The location is incredibly convenient, yet quiet.

  • Klaus from United States – 3 September 2024 (9/10)

It was an amazing location. Super quiet and calm during the weekday. So accessible to a lot of things like restaurants and bus/tram stops, as well as the iconic Charles Bridge. We loved the place and will definitely be back.

What could be improved: We arrived on the weekend, and the streets were packed. These are cobblestone streets, and from the tram location, it was a good 10-15 minute walk to the entrance. And there were so many people that we were shoulder to shoulder pushing through the crowd to get to our hotel.
Also, the entrance is through a restaurant. That should be clarified because GPS took us to the side entrance (which is where you need to go through during off hours of the restaurant).

  • M from Ireland – 24 August 2024 (9/10)

Beautiful accommodation, central location, very clean and comfortable. Very Friendly staff.
