Honestly, when I first walked up to Residence Dobrovskeho 30, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the building sits on this quiet residential street in Smíchov that feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I loved it.

The thing about this place is that it’s genuinely in a neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. You’re about a ten-minute walk from Anděl metro station (which, let me tell you, is a lifesaver for getting around Prague), and there’s this fantastic little bakery called Pekařství U Černého orla just two blocks down that does these incredible koláče that’ll ruin your diet in the best possible way. The residence itself feels more like staying in a really nice apartment building than a traditional hotel – I mean, they’ve got proper kitchenettes in the rooms, which is perfect if you want to grab some of those amazing Czech cheeses from the Tesco nearby and actually save money on a meal or two. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works well and the design is clean and modern without being sterile.

What really got me was how quiet it is at night – Prague’s city center can get pretty rowdy (especially around Wenceslas Square), but over here in Smíchov, you actually get some sleep. The trams run regularly on Plzeňská street, which is close enough to be convenient but far enough that you’re not hearing them all night. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly formal hotel theater – just friendly folks who actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give decent restaurant recommendations. The only minor thing I’d mention is that parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving; street parking fills up pretty quickly in the evenings, though there’s a garage about five minutes away if you don’t mind paying a bit extra.

Look, Prague’s got no shortage of places to stay, but most of them either stick you right in the tourist chaos of Old Town or dump you in some soulless business district. This place strikes that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing how the city actually works while still being close enough to hop on the metro and be at Prague Castle in twenty minutes. The 8.7 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place where everything just works without any drama, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re trying to figure out Czech public transport and whether you can handle another bowl of goulash.

  Perfectly placed in Letna! Really close to the park and nice restaurants/bars. The apartment had all we needed. Also a very nice shower! Big plus 🙂
  
  For parking we used a mr. Parkit spot and from there took the tram, best option in my opinion.
  
  What could be improved: It did smell a bit mouldy, but we got over that really fast. When there is a window open it is okay and it didn't bother anymore.

  Good location, clean and easy check-in /check-out.
  
  What could be improved: Apartment is in basement, where windows exist, but you really do not want to open blinds, as then you have no privacy at all, from street straight view to apartment. Also it had too much moisture even though moisture collectors were working all the time.
