Residence Corto Old Town Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about Residence Corto Old Town – it’s one of those places that just gets Prague right. I mean, you’re literally on Havelská street, which honestly couldn’t be more central if they tried. You know that touristy Havelské Tržiště market that everyone talks about? You can practically roll out of bed and grab your morning coffee there, though I’d actually recommend wandering two blocks over to Na Perštýně where the locals go.

The thing about this place is it feels like staying in someone’s well-kept apartment rather than a typical hotel – which makes sense since it’s basically a residence-style setup. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that you don’t get at those sterile chain places, and honestly, after walking Prague’s cobblestones all day (your feet will thank me for warning you about proper shoes), you’ll appreciate having space to actually spread out. The 8.1 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – you can feel it in the details, like how the windows actually block out the street noise, which is clutch since you’re in the heart of everything. I was worried about noise initially, but the old building’s thick walls do their job surprisingly well.

What I love most is how the location works in practice, not just on paper. Sure, you’re a five-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock (prepare for crowds if you’re there in summer), but more importantly, you’re close to the good stuff locals actually use. There’s a proper Czech pub called U Fleku just around the corner – it’s touristy, yes, but their beer garden is legitimately great on warm evenings. And when you need groceries or pharmacy runs, there’s a Tesco about three blocks away on Národní, which saved me when I realized I’d forgotten phone chargers. The metro’s right there too – Můstek station connects you to both lines, so getting to Prague Castle or Vinohrady is actually painless.

Here’s what they don’t tell you in most reviews: check-in can be a bit quirky since it’s not a massive hotel operation, so definitely confirm your arrival time beforehand. Also, if you’re here during Christmas market season, the area gets absolutely packed, but honestly? That’s half the charm. You’ll hear the market buzz from your window, smell the trdelník and mulled wine, and feel like you’re living inside a Christmas card – just maybe book dinner reservations ahead of time since everyone else has the same idea. The building itself has that old-world Prague character without feeling run-down, which is harder to find than you’d think in this price range. Three stars on paper, but it punches above its weight class where it matters.

Reviews of Residence Corto Old Town

  • Location great, character building, just needs a few extra touches. – Susan from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (7/10)

    Location and cleanliness

What could be improved: It could do with some minor finishing touches, ie nowhere to hang the bath towels and could do with a bedside table rather than a stool on one side of the bed. As there is no air conditioning it could do with a fan in the room as noisy to leave the window open at night.

  • Very good – Georgia from Greece – 27 May 2025 (8/10)

The location was excellent, next to every attraction and easy to reach on foot. The girl in the reception was very helpful and really willing us with everything needed. We had clean towels every day and generally the room was very clean!

What could be improved: As the hotel is located in the old town despite the renovations made still has some old appartment characteristics, like there is no sound isolation, resulting not only listening to people talking from outside the room but the floors shaking everytime someone outside the room made a sudden move. Also the water in the shower changed temperature out of nowhere while the water was running.

  • Ideal location – Artiom from Lithuania – 24 May 2025 (9/10)

Location is amazing. Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. 10% discount in local restaurant for breakfast

What could be improved: TV sometimes wasn’t worked. A bit warm in the room. No hooks in bathrooms.

  • Fabulous location – Jane from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (7/10)

    Location. Value for money

  • Very good – Yavor from Bulgaria – 7 May 2025 (8/10)

The location is the best the hotel offers!
The furniture is basic. The service staff is very friendly. They maintain good cleanliness.

  • Lovely trip, highly recommend – Amelia from United Kingdom – 30 April 2025 (8/10)

Lovely and clean, we received fresh towels each day which was nice. The location was excellent, just a 3 mins walk to the Astronomical Clock and main square

What could be improved: Top floor was a lot of stairs!

  • Superb – Georgia from Greece – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

The location is ideal. Everything is super close. The rooms are clean. I would recommend if you are two people, not to choose the small room. We did, but it is too small for two people and they kindly change us. They also keep our luggages for couple of hours in the reception. Extremely kind in general.

  • Perfect place for a weekend – Diana from Mexico – 29 January 2025 (9/10)

the Hotel is very close to the center, very easy to arrive. the beds were comfortable.

What could be improved: the curtains were a little bit longer because the light frome outside goes inside.

  • Great staff and location – David from United Kingdom – 17 December 2024 (9/10)

Was a flying visit 2 night, great location, staff sorted us out with taxis aswell

What could be improved: Not really, maybe hard to find but we checked in around 23:30 so alot of places were closed at this time

  • Perfect location – Sarah from Ireland – 3 December 2024 (8/10)

The location was great, property was so clean and staff was friendly

What could be improved: The only thing was that it was too hot at night time, but we only figured out on the last day we could turn off the heater, so it was our own fault
