You know what caught me off guard about the Pytloun Old Armoury? The name makes it sound like some touristy gimmick, but honestly, this place has real character tucked away on Všehrdova street. I mean, you’re literally staying in a converted 16th-century armory – and they’ve done something pretty special with it instead of just slapping some medieval decorations on generic hotel rooms.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Prague at all. Všehrdova is this quiet little street that runs parallel to the river, so you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Kampa Island (which, let’s be honest, is way more peaceful than the chaos around Old Town Square). You can hear the trams rumbling by occasionally, but it’s not that jarring city noise that keeps you up – more like a gentle reminder that you’re in a living city, not some sterile hotel district. The building itself has these thick stone walls that seem to absorb sound anyway, so even the street-facing rooms stay pretty quiet.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve balanced the historical elements with actual comfort. The rooms have these gorgeous exposed beams and stone details, but the beds are legitimately good and the bathrooms are modern without feeling out of place. There’s this sort of understated elegance throughout – you’ll find yourself running your hands along the old stonework in the hallways. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood too, which is rarer than it should be. When I asked about getting to Wenceslas Square without dealing with tourist crowds, the front desk guy gave me this route through Národní street that I never would have figured out on my own.

The breakfast situation is solid – nothing groundbreaking, but they’ve got local breads and actually decent coffee, plus you’re eating in what used to be the armory’s main hall. There’s something pretty satisfying about having your morning coffee surrounded by 500-year-old walls. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s old Prague and the streets are narrow, but there’s a garage about two blocks away that the hotel can arrange for you.

I’d say this place really shines if you want to feel connected to Prague’s history without sacrificing comfort, and if you prefer being close to the action without being right in the middle of the tourist hurricane. The 8.9 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that does what it promises really well, without trying to be something it’s not. Just don’t expect a huge lobby or extensive facilities; the charm here is more intimate and rooted in the building’s actual story.

  The armoury decor of the hotel was super cool and one of a kind. Hotel is within a few minute walk of a metro station and major attractions. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and I ate till I could barely move.

  Also, the staff were fabulous, couldn't have done enough for you. As a solo traveller this makes all the difference. I loved the wee touches of a drink on arrival and a brownie on departure. Just felt very special. Not the mention the gorgeous setting.

  The location of the hotel is incredibly convenient. The park in which the hotel is located is quite cozy, in the morning and afternoon you can hear birds singing and the air is fresh and clean. In this hotel you are both in the city and in nature. It is convenient to get to the trams not far from the hotel, or just cross the bridge and you are already in the city center. I would like to especially note the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff in general. I really like staying at this hotel when I visit Prague. Kampa is especially picturesque in autumn.
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast was very varied, but unfortunately it was not very suitable for me because of the large amount of oil or fried food. But, due to the large variety, I could choose an acceptable option for myself, for example, pour boiling water over oatmeal, or make fresh juice from apples and grapefruit instead of concentrated juices. There is also a cheese and meat platter. It was very important to have almond milk for coffee. But to eat a delicious breakfast I had to go to a cafe.

  The place is very close to John lennon wall, Prague Castle, Charles bridge, public transport, The location is perfect. The hotel itself was great, the decor is fantastic,beds and pillows very comfortable, an awesome breakfast. The staff are very helpful and friendly. ill definitely be back and book it again . Highly recommend this hotel., it exceeded my expectations.
