Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from Prahabel – K10 when I first walked up to the building on Kamzíková street. It’s tucked into this quiet residential area that most tourists never see, which actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. You know that feeling when you discover a place that feels authentically local? That’s what this is.
The hotel sits in Vinohrady, which – if you’ve never been to Prague – is where actual Czechs live and work, not just the tourist crowds. I mean, you’re still only about fifteen minutes by tram to Old Town Square, but when you step outside Prahabel, you’re surrounded by proper neighborhood cafes and those beautiful Art Nouveau buildings that make this part of Prague so special. There’s a fantastic little pub called U Vystřelenýho Oka just around the corner that serves some of the best goulash I’ve had (and significantly cheaper than anything you’ll find near the castle). The staff at Prahabel actually recommended it when I asked where locals eat – which tells you something about how they approach hospitality.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to feel both comfortable and distinctly Czech without going overboard on the tourist kitsch. The rooms are clean and well-maintained – nothing fancy, but you can tell someone cares about the details. My room faced the courtyard, so it was properly quiet at night, which I appreciated after dealing with the noise around Wenceslas Square at other places I’ve stayed. The beds are firm (Europeans love their firm mattresses), and the shower pressure was actually decent. Small thing, but when you’ve been walking cobblestones all day, it matters. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no upselling or lengthy explanations of amenities I didn’t need.
I’ll be honest, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll find a spa or fancy restaurant downstairs. But what you get instead is something more valuable – a genuine sense of place and staff who seem to actually enjoy helping guests figure out the city. When I mentioned I wanted to see some Art Nouveau architecture beyond the obvious tourist spots, the woman at reception drew me a little map showing buildings within walking distance that most guidebooks skip entirely. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t get from chain hotels.
The 8.5 rating makes complete sense to me. It’s not trying to be luxury, but it absolutely nails what it is trying to be – a comfortable, well-run neighborhood hotel that gives you easy access to Prague without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist bubble. If you’re the type of traveler who’d rather grab coffee at a local place than pay hotel prices for mediocre breakfast, and you don’t mind a short tram ride to reach the major sights, this spot really delivers. Plus, staying in Vinohrady means you’ll stumble across those perfect Prague moments – like evening light hitting the building facades or discovering a tiny wine bar that’s been family-run for decades – that you’d miss entirely if you stayed right in the center.

A fantastic location!
What could be improved: When coming to a shop nearby to pick the keys, I had to investigate the staff for a long time until they told me that the person with the keys will come soon. He came in 15 minutes or so. There was no stable or not at all WiFi signal at the apt. The owner and his assistant did nothing with my complaints. The contact phone number never answered.Very bad hotel, very cold and doesn’t work for worming, no staff no same one, ten times called but nothing doing.
