Prague Old Town Liliova Garden Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Prague Old Town Liliova Garden, I almost missed it. The entrance sits pretty discreetly on Liliová street, which is actually perfect because you’re literally a two-minute walk from Charles Bridge without being stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. You know what surprised me most? The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that you just don’t expect when you’re this close to Old Town Square.

The hotel really lives up to that “garden” part of its name. There’s this lovely courtyard space that honestly feels like a secret Prague locals have been hiding – I mean, you’re surrounded by centuries-old buildings but somehow it doesn’t feel cramped or overwhelming like some of those other Old Town spots. The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully updated. They’ve kept enough of the historic character (those high ceilings and original details) while actually making sure the WiFi works and the shower has decent pressure. I stayed on the third floor and yeah, there’s no elevator, but the climb is worth it for the views over the red tile rooftops.

What really sold me on this place was the staff’s local knowledge. When I asked about avoiding the crowds at Prague Castle, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a brochure – he told me exactly which entrance to use at 8 AM and which route to take through Malá Strana that tourists haven’t discovered yet. The breakfast situation is solid too, nothing fancy but proper Czech pastries and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around all morning. Location-wise, you’re positioned perfectly for exploring on foot. Wenceslas Square is about ten minutes if you cut through the smaller streets, and there’s a great traditional pub (U Fleku) just around the corner that’s been brewing beer since the 1400s – not exactly a hidden gem, but the hotel is close enough that you can stumble back easily. The only minor thing is that weekend nights can get a bit lively with people heading to and from the bars, but honestly, if you’re staying in Old Town Prague, you’re probably not going to bed super early anyway. For a 4-star place with an 8.3 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for – authentic Prague charm without the tourist trap pricing or the feeling that you’re sleeping in a museum.

Reviews of Prague Old Town Liliova Garden

  • Great Location. Helpful staff – Douglas from United States – 1 July 2025 (8/10)

Location is perfect. Our flight was delayed and the man who was working the reception desk stayed past scheduled closing time to accommodate us.

What could be improved: Minor issue with window blinds.
Also the TV was not connected to anything. Might be an issue for someone. We didn’t care because we spent all our time out or sleeping.

  • Great room in an amazing location! – Gabriella from Australia – 13 June 2025 (9/10)

Amazing location right in the heart of old town, but on a quiet street. Everything on walking distance, or really easy to go around with the trams/ lightrail. We stayed in a room in the basement which was very clean, quite specious and soundproof. Beds were very comfy and shower was amazing!

What could be improved: Due to staying in the basement, the hallway had a bit of a mouldy smell going down. The room felt and smelled fresh though.

  • Excellent location for a quiet stay on the heart of old town – Alan from Norway – 29 May 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location right in the heart of old town Prague and close to everything- bars, restaurants and shops, and only 5 minutes walk from the river, Charles Bridge and other landmarks.
The room we had was at the back of the building overlooking the inner courtyard. Very quiet as it’s away from the street. Access via a service door with security cameras overlooking entrances.
Comfortable bed, nice bathroom and shower, very clean. Small fridge in the room. A/C available although we didn’t need it. Good WiFi throughout.
Friendly, helpful reception staff. Cleaners changed towels etc every day.

What could be improved: Room slightly on the small side, but otherwise no complaints.

  • Great stay, super convenient location. – Violeta from Greece – 5 May 2025 (9/10)

The location was excellent, very convenient and easy to move around. The owner is great as well, very helpful with everything.

What could be improved: everything was great

  • Superb – Catherine from United Kingdom – 27 April 2025 (9/10)

Really good location / staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable, clean and just really nice all round! Would defo stay again and would recommend:)

What could be improved: The hotel isn’t called what it says on the booking.com name. It is called Liliova Hotel which made it a bit difficult to find and we were initially unsure if we were at the right place. Other residents staying at the time were quite loud and i could hear them very easily during the night, but that is not the hotels fault.

  • Very good – Morgan from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (8/10)
