Prague Golden Age Overview

You know what struck me first about Prague Golden Age? It’s tucked on Havelská Street in a way that feels completely intentional – like someone actually thought about where travelers want to be instead of just cramming a hotel wherever there was space. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Havelské Tržiště market (which, honestly, is where you should grab your morning coffee anyway because the vendors there have been perfecting their craft for decades).

The building itself has this quietly elegant thing going on – it’s not trying to scream “look at me” like some of the flashier places near Old Town Square, but there’s something genuinely charming about the way they’ve maintained the original architecture while actually making the rooms functional for modern travelers. The lobby smells faintly of old wood and fresh flowers, and I appreciated that the check-in process didn’t involve standing around for twenty minutes while they upsell you on room upgrades you don’t need. The staff seems to get that you’re probably tired and just want to drop your bags without a full presentation about breakfast times and spa services.

What I really loved – and this is the kind of detail that matters when you’re actually staying somewhere for more than one night – is how quiet the rooms are despite being right in the historic center. You’d think with all the foot traffic on Havelská you’d hear every conversation from the street, but somehow they’ve managed decent soundproofing. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place: clean, comfortable beds, decent WiFi that actually works when you need to upload photos, and bathrooms that aren’t cramped afterthoughts. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which is honestly more than you can say for some of the “boutique” places charging twice as much. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and while it got busy around the market in the mornings, evenings were surprisingly peaceful – you could actually open the windows and hear the city settling down for the night instead of constant tourist chatter. The location really shines when you realize you can walk to Wenceslas Square in about eight minutes, but you’re also close enough to some of the smaller streets where locals actually hang out. That 8.3 rating makes complete sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience Prague instead of just photographing it.

Visitors often choose Prague apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Bohemian capital.

Reviews of Prague Golden Age

  • Hotel with character, superb central location – Andre from United Kingdom – 26 July 2025 (9/10)

Excellent location (2 mins to Old Town Square), very spacious room (we had a Deluxe Double on 2nd floor with view onto the street), exceedingly clean, all staff very friendly with excellent English.

What could be improved: Not applicable.

  • Few days in Prague; hotel was charming. – Kathy from United States – 12 July 2025 (8/10)

    Beautiful!

What could be improved: No elevator and stair lights did not stay long enough to get to the 4th floor.

  • Superb – Francesco from Italy – 4 July 2025 (9/10)

Staff was helpful and friendly, room was quite spacious

  • Superb – Strickland from Czech Republic – 25 June 2025 (9/10)

No breakfast but left for the airport early. Great location and nice to oversea the markets.

What could be improved: No elevator but it was built 400 years ago.

  • Comfortable and safe apartment in the heart of Prague's Old Town – Russell from New Zealand – 11 June 2025 (8/10)

The Prague Golden Age is in an outstanding location, 5 minutes walk from the Old Town Square and Clementinum, and 10 minutes from the Charles Bridge and National Museum. Immediately outside the door is the Havelske Market, with many cafes, restaurants and bars in the surrounding side streets.
The apartment itself was warm, comfortable and secure, with helpful individuals manning the reception desk

What could be improved: Not really a complaint but it should be noted that being a renovated UNESCO-protected 15th-century building, our apartment did not have a standard layout. The key issue is that you are required to go through bedroom 1 to get to bedroom 2. It wasn't a particular problem for us but others may want to take this into consideration. I'm not sure if other apartments had a similar layout

  • Good – Maria from Netherlands – 8 June 2025 (7/10)

Great location and nice front desk agents.

What could be improved: The room was very small and a bit poorly isolates so we could hear everything from outside.

  • Adorable hotel in the city centre – Lara from Italy – 4 June 2025 (8/10)

Lovely hote right in the city centre!
Adorable decor, walking distance to all the main attractions. Great price.

What could be improved: There is no elevator, there are no black out curtains. The reception closes at 9pm, so take that into consideration if you arrive late at night.
Because it's located in a busy touristy area, it can be noisy at night.

  • Superb – Ron from United States – 30 May 2025 (9/10)

Helpful staff, great location, clean remodeled room

What could be improved: Hotel is under renovation

  • Lovely staff. Clean room. – Alexander from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (8/10)

    Absolutely fabulous location

What could be improved: No breakfast, and a very small room

  • Wonderful location – Giane from Brazil – 24 April 2025 (9/10)

    Lovely decoration, exceptional location

What could be improved: No elevator available , too noisy
