Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Prague Gardens Apartments? The name actually makes sense – and I mean that as a compliment, because half the places I’ve stayed have names that sound like they were picked by throwing darts at a tourism brochure. This place sits on Pod vrstevnicí, which honestly sounds intimidating until you realize it’s just this quiet residential street that feels worlds away from the tourist chaos, even though you’re still very much in Prague.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Czech apartment block vibe, but someone clearly put thought into making it work for travelers. I stayed here in late spring (avoid July if you can – Prague gets swamped), and what I loved was how the apartments felt like actual homes rather than hotel rooms with kitchenettes awkwardly shoved in corners. The kitchen in mine had proper counter space – not just enough room for a coffee cup, but actual prep space where you could spread out groceries from the Tesco down the street. And honestly, after spending way too much on mediocre goulash in Old Town, being able to cook a few meals was a lifesaver for both my stomach and wallet.

The area took me a day or two to figure out, but that’s part of its charm. You’re in a real Prague neighborhood where people actually live and work, not just sell marionettes to tourists. There’s this little bakery about a five-minute walk away where the woman behind the counter doesn’t speak English but somehow always knows exactly what pastry you’re pointing at, and it’s always the right choice. The tram connections are solid once you get the hang of Prague’s public transport (buy the longer passes, trust me), and you can get to the castle or the main square without feeling like you need to plan a expedition.

What really won me over was the quietness – well, Prague-quiet, which means you’ll still hear trams and the occasional late-night conversation, but none of that constant stream of rolling suitcases and tour groups that echoes through hotel corridors in the center. The apartments are well-insulated, and I actually slept past 7 AM most days, which never happens when I travel. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that “let me show you seventeen amenities you’ll never use” routine, just keys, WiFi password, and a few practical tips about the neighborhood.

I mean, it’s not perfect – the shower pressure was just okay, and the elevator is one of those tiny European ones where you and your luggage become very well acquainted. But for a 4-star place with an 8.9 rating, it delivers on what matters: clean, comfortable space, a real sense of place, and that feeling like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually choose for themselves. If you’re the type who wants to experience Prague beyond the postcard version, this is exactly the kind of base camp you want.

  • Ajay from India – 23 December 2024 (9/10)

Location is quiet and near to the bus stop. It’s 35 minutes away from old town square. If anyone prefer cab, it 15 minutes away and will cost 11 to 13 euros.

Comfortable, clean, cousy. Everything is carefully prepared for all the necessary details of your stay. Tranquillity and quietness in the quarter. Not far away from the centre.
A bottle of wine – lovely detail – courtesy of the owner. We enjoyed a lot staying in this apartment. Our family will definitely return.

  • Maksym from Switzerland – 10 July 2024 (10/10)

Host responsiveness, the garden, grill facilities, laundry facilities, piano in the room. The kitchen, relative lack of mosquitos. (however, I've bought two Mosquito Repellent Device second night just in case, so that might factor in).

What could be improved: There was only one shared laundry dryer rack between several rooms – I would suggest to put several dryer racks.

  • Denise from Australia – 12 June 2024 (9/10)

Owner very pleasant, and speaks English. Spacious apartment, comfortable beds, Fridge, Stove top, microwave, safe, washing machine, drying rack. Good access to Prague by bus, though we decided to 'BOLT' in. 15 euros each way. Walked up to the castle, across to Science Museum and down to the Clock on the square. No need for a bus tour, everything easy to walk to.

What could be improved: Would loved to have access to a dryer.

  • Szczepanik from Poland – 25 May 2024 (10/10)

It's a really calm neighborhood, clean, apartment – everything was fine and the host is really helpful.

What could be improved: Instructions towards entrance is a bit unclear, we went from the other side of the house.

  • Krzysztof from Poland – 20 May 2024 (10/10)

Great location in very quiet neighbourhood. Nice garden can be freely used by guests. Great contact with Apartment owner. Martin gave as great tip with using dedicated app for the public transport in Praga. It was very useful. Apartment in spacey, bright, very well equiped, with very comfortable beds. Bus stop is 2 minutes away from the apartment. The Underground station is less than 10 minutes bus ride. The trip to the Old Town takes around 30 minutes. Apartment Has got a dedicated car place on the next street.
