Prague Dream Hostel Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Prague Dream Hostel? It’s actually a proper hostel that feels way more upscale than the name suggests – I mean, four stars for a hostel is pretty unusual, but they’ve earned it. The building sits right on Ve Smeckach, which honestly took me a few tries to pronounce correctly, but it’s this perfect little street that puts you smack in the middle of New Town without the tourist madness you get closer to Old Town Square.

The first thing that hit me walking in was how quiet it was inside, despite being maybe a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square. The staff actually seemed to know what they were doing – check-in was smooth, they had real recommendations (not just the obvious tourist traps), and when I asked about getting to Vinohrady for dinner, the guy at reception knew exactly which tram to catch. The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run hostel, but cleaner than most and with these little touches that show someone cares – proper reading lights, enough outlets for all your devices, and beds that don’t creak every time someone rolls over. I stayed in a six-bed dorm and honestly, it felt more like a boutique hotel room that happened to have bunk beds.

What really sold me on this place was the vibe in the common areas. There’s this mix of backpackers and slightly older travelers who’ve figured out that hostels don’t have to mean sleeping in a party zone. The kitchen actually has decent equipment (sharp knives – miracle!), and there’s enough fridge space that you’re not playing Tetris with everyone else’s leftovers. Location-wise, you’re close enough to walk to the main sights but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. Plus, if you want to explore beyond the tourist bubble, you’re right there with easy access to the real Prague – the coffee shops locals actually go to, the pubs that don’t have menus in twelve languages, that sort of thing. The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you experience it yourself; it’s one of those places that gets the basics absolutely right and then adds just enough extra to make you want to come back.

Early hotels booking in Prague is essential during major events like the Prague Spring Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned classical music scene and Gothic architecture.

Reviews of Prague Dream Hostel

  • Nicole from United Kingdom – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

The young lady at the front desk was very kind and helpful. She gave me lots of recommendations and helped me with everything I needed. The kitchen has all the amenities you need to make your own meals and it was handy they served breakfast in the mornings to get you started on the day.

I stayed in the female dorm with an en suite bathroom and it was very cozy and clean. The bed was comfy and having our own light with plugs was great. I really loved that they had curtains for privacy. I really enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. With being in a very popular area, the street felt safe at night and the noise of the cars, clubs, and people were not heard from the rooms.

I also recommend the free walking tours and the national museum!!

What could be improved: Nothing was a happy

  • Hayane from Ireland – 1 April 2025 (8/10)

I liked the room that I was, with shower and toilet. Was good to have curtains on the bed, more privacy. Easy to go everywhere and also it was possible for me to leave my suitcase at the hostel while waiting to give the check-in time.

What could be improved: The only thing was after 11pm I could listen noises from guest’s. Other than that, I had no problem.

  • Sheelagh from Ireland – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

    Great location,
    Great breakfast

What could be improved: Visit too short

  • Kanlaya from United States – 25 March 2025 (8/10)

    Very clean. Nice and organized.

What could be improved: The storages under the bed are so noisy when people open and close. If someone didn’t care enough to close it. It just bangs on your bed while you were sleeping. The cleaner are very good to clean the facilities but they like to clean in the morning when the toilets and shower rooms are busy to use..

  • Nurzhan from Kazakhstan – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

Very good and friendly working stuff and very nice location

What could be improved: Everything was good

  • Simone from Netherlands – 23 March 2025 (8/10)

The beds were comfortable and sturdy, and my top bunk had some space on the side which was nice. The common areas were clean and nice

What could be improved: The location is close to the station but to the old town it's a bit of a walk. I'd recommend staying out and not walking back and forth a bunch of times since it will take a while

  • Rachael from United Kingdom – 22 March 2025 (8/10)

Conveniently located hostel near city centre and public transport stops. Clean and quiet. Loved that the beds had curtains, and the shared kitchen was nice. Lots of spaces to hang out. Rooms and hostel itself both need key card access, so very safe. They even provide you with a free small towel

What could be improved: Someone stole my food from the fridge…Not the fault of the hostel but cmon it was 2 yoghurts and some berries marked with my name?? >:0

Not the most social hostel, but i didn’t really want to socialise because i was sick. It had a nice, calm vibe.

  • Lars from Netherlands – 21 March 2025 (8/10)

    Super hostel modern schoon comfortable

  • Yana from Germany – 21 March 2025 (9/10)

It was my second stay there, and I liked it just as I did the first time. The beds are wide, so that you have some space besides the mattress to put your stuff, they aren't noisy, there are curtains, you don't have to put your sheets on yourself so there's no unnecessary ruckus if someone arrives late, the bathrooms are in a separate room, there are both stairs and the lift available, the kitchen isn't that spacious but has everything needed for cooking, and there is plenty of room in the refrigerators. The location is convenient, the WiFi works well.

    What could be improved: Nada.

  • Kovačević from Croatia – 20 March 2025 (9/10)

I liked the location, the interiour of the hostel and the staff.
