Pension Karnet Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Pension Karnet on a quiet residential street in Prague, you immediately get the sense this is one of those hidden gems locals probably wish tourists wouldn’t discover. It’s tucked away in the Libeň district, which honestly feels refreshingly authentic compared to the tourist-packed Old Town. The building itself has that understated Czech charm — nothing flashy, but you can tell someone actually cares about maintaining the place. This three-star pension offers genuine character and attention to detail that sets it apart from larger chain hotels.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what makes this location special — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough away that you can actually breathe. The Palmovka metro station is about a 10-minute walk, and from there you’re maybe 15 minutes to Wenceslas Square. What really sold guests on the location is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area. There’s something romantic about wandering these quieter streets in the evening, especially when you stumble upon one of those cozy neighborhood pubs that don’t even have English menus. The neighborhood strikes the perfect balance between accessibility and authentic local atmosphere.
The Room Experience
The room experience at Pension Karnet exceeds expectations for a three-star property. The beds here are genuinely fantastic, with quality linens and mattresses that ensure restful sleep. You know how sometimes you sleep better in a hotel than at home? That’s exactly what happens here. The room itself is clean and functional without being fancy, but there’s something about the overall comfort that just works. The windows are well-insulated too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The breakfast setup surprises guests in the best way possible. They’ve got this buffet spread that covers pretty much every dietary need you can think of — continental basics, full English options, plus vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices. For a smaller pension, that’s impressive range. But here’s the real kicker: free parking. If you’re driving in Prague (which is recommended for day trips to places like Český Krumlov), you’ll understand why this is such a big deal. Finding affordable parking in this city can be a nightmare, making this amenity invaluable.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back here isn’t any single standout feature — it’s how everything just works smoothly together. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, the practical details are handled well, and you get that authentic Prague neighborhood feel without sacrificing comfort. Recent guests consistently rave about the location and hospitality. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re living in Prague rather than just visiting it, offering an experience that resonates long after departure.

What could be improved: Slow internet , with the August heat, a fan in room might have been nice, but otherwise we enjoyed our stay hereValentina from Germany – 15 August 2023 (9/10)

We enjoyed the experience at Pension Karnet. Big thanks to the host, 10/10 for his personality and kindness.
The location of the accommodation was good, 10 minutes to the underground station or 1 minute for the bus station.
The host helped us with valuable tips for our visit, food and beer recommendations, as well as visiting points, not that tourist crowded.
He prepared us a full breakfast every morning, warm/cold, up to your choice.
We definitely recommend this place for your trips to Prague. Free parking was a plus as well.
What could be improved: Everything was good.Paun from Romania – 8 July 2023 (9/10)
equipped kitchen, towels, personal hygiene items, cleaning, breakfast… Everything was OK!
The owner is an extraordinary man, willing to help us in any situation and he gave us tourist information that we didn't even expect so it is clear that we will come back. The area is very quiet, although it is relatively close to the center. The garden behind the building, where we served breakfast, is very beautiful. The metro is 1 km away on foot and there is enough parking space for the car at any time of the day.
What could be improved: due to the constructive features of the building, the toilet is not in the same room as the sink. Although I did not need it, the room does not have air conditioning.
