Walking up to the second floor of a classic Prague building on Na Poříčí, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from Pat & Mat Apartment. The name itself is charmingly Czech — referencing those beloved animated handymen characters — and honestly, that playful spirit carries through the entire experience. This four-star property sits right in the thick of things, and I mean that in the best possible way. You’re literally steps from Wenceslas Square and the main shopping areas, but somehow the building itself feels like a quiet refuge from all the tourist chaos outside.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about staying in Prague 1 — you can walk everywhere that matters. From this spot on Na Poříčí, I could reach Old Town Square in about eight minutes, and the castle district was just a pleasant 15-minute stroll across the river. The building sits between two metro stations (Náměstí Míru and Muzeum), which sounds convenient but honestly, I barely used public transport because everything felt so walkable. There’s something special about being able to grab coffee at a local café downstairs, then wander over to see the astronomical clock without any planning whatsoever.

The Space Itself

The apartment feels more like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place than a typical hotel room. Everything’s been thoughtfully updated — modern fixtures, comfortable furniture, and a compact but well-equipped kitchen that actually works for more than just making coffee. I appreciated having real counter space and proper cookware, especially since Prague’s food markets are so tempting. The bathroom’s compact but cleverly designed, and the whole place stays surprisingly quiet despite being on a busy street. The windows are well-insulated, which matters more than you’d think in this part of town.

Daily Rhythms

What struck me most was how naturally this place fit into exploring Prague’s rhythm. Mornings, I’d grab pastries from the bakery around the corner and eat them by the window while planning my day. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals heading to work and tourists figuring out their maps — you feel part of the city rather than isolated in some hotel bubble. Evenings were equally nice; after long days of sightseeing, I could pick up groceries and actually cook something simple, or just collapse on the comfortable sofa and order delivery from one of dozens of nearby restaurants.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.2 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s that rare combination of prime location, thoughtful amenities, and reasonable pricing that’s getting harder to find in central Prague. Couples especially seem to appreciate the intimate scale and the romantic neighborhood — there’s something undeniably charming about having your own little Prague pied-à-terre rather than a standard hotel experience. The property manages to feel both authentically local and comfortably modern, which honestly captures what makes Prague itself so appealing.   I liked everything the kitchen has all equiqment for prepare something. The good location is near to old town (etc.) and supermarkets we didn’t use tranportation because the aparment is very good location. I suppose that if you travel Prague hire this apartment.   Everything has been great for out stay at Duplex Apartment. Mika, the host, is very kind and has accommodated us with nice welcoming. The apartment is very spacious, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay in Prague, it was very clear, well furnished, warm and close to the city center, you can reach the main city's attractions in max 15 minutes by walking.
  In addition, it is located within a inner courtyard so it's very quiet, you can sleep very well. The room is very large, the b
  ed was soft, we had a good sleep.
  Mika is gentle and explained us everything we need, leaving also in the apartment some city guide and dépliant for some tips.
  Everything was wonderful, I truly recommend this place and this host 😀

  Well situated. At the very center of the city and in the meantime isolated from the noise by a small courtyard. And in that courtyard there is a cosy restaurant
