Palace Petrarca

Prague, Czech Republic
47 Žitná, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Palace Petrarca when I first walked up to that corner building on Žitná Street – honestly, the name made it sound a bit pretentious. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into this quiet residential street that most tourists completely miss, which means you get that authentic Prague neighborhood feel without the constant stream of tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM.

The thing about staying here is you’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, but it feels like you’ve discovered some local secret. I mean, step out the front door and you’ll see actual Czechs walking their dogs and heading to the corner bakery – not a single “I ❤️ Prague” t-shirt in sight. The hotel itself has this understated elegance that feels genuinely European rather than trying too hard to be fancy. The lobby’s got these beautiful period details (the building dates back to the early 1900s), but they’ve updated everything that actually matters – the WiFi is solid, the air conditioning works properly, and the beds are honestly some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in during three weeks of hotel hopping across Central Europe.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach – they’re not overly chatty, but when you ask for restaurant recommendations, they’ll actually tell you where they eat rather than just handing you a glossy brochure. The front desk guy steered me toward this incredible traditional Czech place about two blocks away that I never would have found otherwise. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (street parking only, and you’ll need to figure out the zones), but the tram stop is right there, and honestly, you don’t need a car in this part of Prague anyway. The rooms themselves are what I’d call elegantly simple – not huge, but smartly designed with enough space to actually unpack and settle in. The windows are properly soundproofed too, which matters more than you’d think given how sound carries through these old European neighborhoods. I stayed during peak summer season and never felt like I was packed into a tourist factory, which at this price point and with an 8.9 rating, feels almost too good to be true.

The apartment is situated in the walk distance to all Prague attractions as well as the tram and underground station. You can easily come to the Vazlav square with a lot of cafes and restaurants, it takes you up to 15 minutes to reach the Charles Bridge.

What could be improved: It is really noisy sometimes during the night because of Police station located nearby, BUT it is a great advantage - you are all time under the high level protection) Policemen are really nice and attentive)))

It was clean and staff were super friendly and attentive, assisted quickly on my special request.

What could be improved: It was pretty cold inside, I had to wear extra clothes to stay warm.
My suggestion is to have some extra hitting devices inside for future guests.
