Palace Dlouhá Apartments – Old Town

Prague, Czech Republic
39 Dlouhá, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

Honestly, when I first walked up to Palace Dlouhá Apartments, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, the building looks pretty understated from the street. But you know what? Sometimes the best places in Prague are the ones that don’t shout about themselves. This spot sits right on Dlouhá Street, which is actually perfect because you’re literally a three-minute stumble from Old Town Square (trust me, I’ve timed it after a few Czech beers), but far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists singing at 2 AM.

The apartments themselves are… well, they’re proper apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be something they’re not. I stayed in one with a full kitchen, which saved me a fortune since eating out in the tourist zone every meal gets expensive fast. The space felt genuinely lived-in rather than sterile – you’ll find little touches like actual books on shelves and kitchen equipment that people clearly use regularly. The bathroom was modern without being flashy, and honestly, the water pressure was better than my flat back home. What really got me was the attention to detail – proper blackout curtains (essential if you’re jet-lagged), decent Wi-Fi that actually works when you need to upload photos, and they’d stocked the kitchen basics so I could make coffee first thing without having to hunt down a shop.

Location-wise, this is where Palace Dlouhá really shines. You’re on one of those streets that feels properly Prague – cobblestones, beautiful old buildings, but with actual life happening around you. There’s a fantastic little bakery about two doors down where locals queue up for pastries (the cinnamon rolls are ridiculous), and you can walk to Wenceslas Square in about eight minutes if you cut through the side streets. I actually ended up walking everywhere because trams and metros felt unnecessary – the castle’s maybe a 15-minute walk across the river, and all the main sights are closer than that. The building itself is quiet enough that street noise wasn’t an issue, though if you’re super sensitive to sound, maybe mention it when booking since some rooms face the main street. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that corporate hotel rigmarole, just someone who knew the neighborhood well giving you actual useful tips about where to eat and which tourist traps to avoid. That 9.2 rating makes total sense when you realize you’re getting the space and comfort of a proper apartment with the location most hotels would charge double for.

To book a hotel in Prague during the famous Easter Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts history enthusiasts and architecture lovers from around the world.
