Oomph Apartments

Prague, Czech Republic
Seifertova 465/15, Prague, 13000, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what struck me first about Oomph Apartments? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – there’s this unexpected energy to the place that most apartment-style accommodations just don’t have. I mean, you’re on Seifertova, which honestly isn’t the street tourists usually end up on, but that’s exactly why it works so well.

The location is one of those Prague gems that locals probably take for granted. You’re in Vinohrady, which – if you’ve never been – is where actual Czechs live and work, not just where they serve tourists overpriced goulash. The tram connections are solid (you’ll want the 11 or 13), and there’s this fantastic little Vietnamese market just down the street that stays open late when you need random supplies. I actually found myself walking to Náměstí Míru more often than taking transport – it’s maybe ten minutes if you don’t mind a gentle uphill, and you pass these gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings that make you stop and stare like an idiot with your phone out. The whole area has this lived-in feel that Old Town just can’t match anymore.

What really surprised me was how thoughtfully set up these apartments are. Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that call themselves apartments but are basically hotel rooms with a mini-fridge shoved in the corner. These feel like someone actually lives here – or could live here comfortably. The kitchens have proper cookware (not just two bent forks and a plastic spatula), and there’s enough counter space that you can actually prep a meal if you want to hit up the Vinohrady market and cook something decent. The WiFi is genuinely fast – I worked from there a couple days without wanting to throw my laptop out the window. And honestly, for a 3-star place, the beds are surprisingly good. Not luxury hotel good, but way better than that back-breaking experience you sometimes get with apartment rentals.

The staff deserves a mention too – they’re not hovering around like hotel staff, but when you need something, they actually know their stuff about the neighborhood. The woman at check-in gave me better restaurant recommendations than my Prague guidebook did, and she was right about that wine bar on Korunní being worth the walk. The building itself is quiet enough that you’re not hearing every footstep from upstairs, which is saying something for Prague’s older buildings. I stayed there in late spring when the windows were open, and you get these nice cooking smells from neighboring apartments in the evening – makes the whole place feel more authentic, you know?

That 9.3 rating isn’t inflated marketing nonsense, either. It’s the kind of place that gets the basics right without trying to be fancy about it, then surprises you with little touches that show someone was actually thinking about what travelers need. If you want to feel like you’re staying in Prague rather than just visiting it, and you don’t need someone to carry your bags and bring you towels, this is exactly the kind of place you’re looking for.

Beautiful, spacious apartment. In a very good location. Away from the crowds, but very close to the city center. Nearby are many restaurants, tram stop, train station and metro station. All necessary everyday items were included. Very helpful Oomph team, especially Anna, who was very helpful and patient.
