Old Town Square Residence by Emblem Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Prague hotels, but Old Town Square Residence by Emblem actually gets it right – and that’s saying something for a place literally on Staroměstské náměsti. You know how most hotels right on the square are either tourist traps or crazy expensive disappointments? This one’s different, though you’ll definitely pay for the location.
The building itself is this gorgeous historic thing that’s been converted beautifully – I mean, you’re basically living in a piece of 14th-century Prague, but with proper Wi-Fi and air conditioning that actually works. The rooms have these original wooden beams and stone details that feel authentic, not like some designer’s idea of “old world charm.” Honestly, the first time I walked into my suite, I spent ten minutes just looking at the ceiling. The windows – massive ones – look directly onto the square, so you’re watching the Astronomical Clock crowds gather every hour (which is both fascinating and slightly maddening if you’re trying to sleep in). Pro tip: the rooms facing away from the square are quieter but you lose that incredible view of Týn Church lit up at night.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed the whole tourist circus situation. Yes, you’re in the absolute epicenter of Prague tourism, but the entrance is discreet enough that you don’t feel like you’re walking through a theme park to get to your room. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – not just the obvious stuff, but like which entrance to use for St. Vitus Cathedral to avoid the worst lines, or that the best goulash is actually at U Fleků, not the places right on the square. Parking is… well, forget about it unless you enjoy paying more for a parking spot than most people spend on their entire hotel room. Just use the trams – the Staroměstská metro stop is literally a three-minute walk.
The 8.8 rating makes sense because while everything is genuinely luxurious and the location is unbeatable, you’re paying premium prices for what is essentially a very fancy apartment hotel. Some mornings the square gets pretty loud with tour groups gathering by 8 AM, and if there’s any kind of festival or market happening (which seems to be constantly), good luck having a quiet moment on your balcony. But honestly? If you want to be in the absolute heart of historic Prague and you don’t mind paying for the privilege, this place delivers. I’ve brought friends here who were skeptical about staying somewhere so touristy, and they all ended up loving that they could stumble back from dinner in Malá Strana without figuring out night trams, or grab coffee and pastries from that little place on Celetná before the crowds hit. It’s touristy, sure, but it’s touristy done right.

Location, Location, Location. The amenities were great as we were traveling with kids. We had access to laundry, a kitchen and what ever we needed. We will stay again especially if we are traveling with kids.

When we checked in, it was night time, close to midnight. I must admit, in the beginning the place had a spooky feel for me. Maybe it’s because we just newly arrived and I’m not used to a hotel bedroom that is so huge and with high ceiling. We eventually found the place to be very homey 🙂 Nothing spooky 🙂 Location is unbelievable – right at the heart of Old Town Prague. A must-go is the bar at the basement- “White Horse”. It is historic, beautiful, great vibe for drinks/dinner, and they would even have a live musician. The cafe at the ground floor is nice, too, with the Astronomical clock at stone’s throw distance.
What could be improved: We were in Prague in very cold February. The heater system was weak 🙁Oskar from Ireland – 25 March 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: I have nothing to fault. Everything was great!Michael from United States – 13 March 2025 (9/10)
Perfect stay in the Junior Suite. DIRECTLY in the old town square with windows facing it. Emblem Hotel is the check in point, and they helped carry our bags up to the residence – Thank you Paul! Felt like a speakeasy hotel on the square.

Really good location right outside the Astronomical clock. Room was ideal and comfortable.
What could be improved: I was a little disappointed that we had to pay €12 per person to use the leisure facilities at the main hotelDiana from United States – 23 February 2025 (9/10)
We had the apartment on First floor with the Old Town Square view. It was warm, a good bed, clean and modern. Of course, a nice wiew and great location.
What could be improved: The correspondence door.
The fact that you must unlock 4 doors to reach your room. 4 doors that have 4 different clasic keys…that you need to carry with you.
No espresso machine in the room. Just instant coffee and a kettle. Luckily you can go to the restaurant or Starbucks just downstairs. But still…I prefer my coffee in pj looking outside through window.Natalija from Australia – 30 December 2024 (9/10)
Our stay was exceptional! The location is right in the old town square and you can see the Astronomical clock from the room! Also had an amazing view of the Christmas markets and lights. Room was very large but cozy, everything was well maintained and clean. Will definitely be staying here again.
