Old Town Apartments Tyn Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of Prague apartments over the years, but Old Town Apartments Tyn honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When you’re walking down Týnská ulička (and yes, you’ll stumble over that pronunciation at first), you’re literally steps away from the Týn Church towers that dominate every Prague postcard. I mean, we’re talking about a tiny cobblestone street that most tourists rush past on their way to Old Town Square, but that’s actually perfect because it means you get this incredible central location without the constant crush of tour groups right outside your door.

The thing about staying here is that you’re genuinely living like a local, except with way better amenities than most locals have. The apartments themselves are what I’d call “properly renovated” – you know how some places in Prague’s historic center try to maintain that medieval charm but end up feeling like dungeons? Not here. They’ve managed to keep the character (those thick walls and original beams are gorgeous) while making everything actually functional. The kitchens are surprisingly well-equipped – I actually cooked a few meals instead of eating out every night, which saved me a fortune. And honestly, after walking around Prague all day, sometimes you just want to grab some fresh bread from the bakery on Celetná Street and make yourself a simple dinner.

What really sets this place apart though is the location knowledge you gain just by staying here. You’ll quickly figure out that the back way to Wenceslas Square through the smaller streets is way more pleasant than fighting the crowds on the main routes. The staff – well, they’re not really staff in the traditional hotel sense, but the people managing the place – they actually know Prague. Not just the tourist stuff, but they’ll tell you which pubs the locals frequent (hint: not the ones in the immediate Old Town area) and when to visit the major sights to avoid the worst crowds.

I stayed here in late October, and while it was definitely busy season, the evenings were surprisingly peaceful. You get the church bells from Týn Church, which sounds romantic until you realize they ring quite frequently, but honestly, after the first night you don’t even notice. The apartment walls are thick enough that street noise isn’t really an issue, and the windows are proper double-glazed. One small thing – if you’re arriving by car, just forget about it. Park outside the center and take the metro. The nearest parking is a bit of a walk, and navigating these narrow streets with a rental car is basically asking for trouble.

With a 9.8 rating, you’d expect something special, and it delivers without feeling pretentious about it. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Prague trip before you’ve even checked out, mostly because you’ll want to come back to this exact spot. The combination of being right in the heart of everything while still feeling like you have a proper home base is pretty rare in Prague’s tourist center.

Reviews of Old Town Apartments Tyn

  • Amazing Place! – Karen from Malaysia – 22 July 2025 (10/10)

We felt so at home and the property has everything we needed for 4 nights.
The location is amazing! Literally round the corner from the Astronomical Clock.
Marcella us a Super Host! She is very responsive and was always in communication, ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved how she even arranged for us to be picked up on arrival at the station and when she met us on checkout, even sent us to the bus station even though she didn’t have to.

What could be improved: The place and furnishing are slightly dated but well taken care of, clean and in good condition.

  • Exceptional – Leander from Germany – 11 May 2025 (10/10)

Really nice, clean, well-equipped flat in the heart of Prague. Marcela is super friendly and helpful, which made our stay even better. Highly recommend!

  • Spacious apartment near the Old Town Square – Logan from France – 28 March 2025 (10/10)

The hosts are adorable. One of the warmest checkin and checkout that I’ve done. They are also very reactive on WhatsApp and they are on time.
The apartment is very close to the Old Town Square, so it was so convenient.
The apartment is big and well equipped (with smart tv, iron, hairdryer, umbrellas, slippers, washing machine etc…).
We were able to do early checkin and late checkout (probably because it was off-season) which was a big plus for us!

What could be improved: Nothing, it was perfect 🙂
    Book it if it’s available!

  • Central to Market Square and a comfortable place. – World_explorer from Australia – 21 January 2025 (10/10)

This is an absolutely wonderful property and a great host. Everything was very clean, and the property had everything from AC to Washing machine and dryer, full kitchen and lift to get you and your luggage without any stairs. The host had every minute thing covered as well (like umbrellas, shoe shine, extra blankets, locker, washing powder, coffee, beer, milk, etc.). The host took the time to help us plan our visit, inform about the places we could eat and how to get around. Because of this experience, Prague became so memorable for us. The location is really great. You are literally at the main square (20 meters from it) and everything is so walkable from this location. One can stay in this property for howsoever long period without any compromise. We loved our stay. Can't recommend this more.

What could be improved: Nothing in this place is to dislike. Just remember that there are no views to the market square.

  • A perfect experience. Would come again – Hjbg1 from United States – 3 January 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, very central (Old Town Square) but quiet.

What could be improved: A bit on the pricey side

  • Clean well supplied and well situated – Barry from Australia – 13 November 2024 (9/10)

Very well located in the old town, only minutes walk from the square

What could be improved: The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep

  • Exceptional – Keith from United States – 7 October 2024 (10/10)

Wonderful location near Tyn Cathedral. Very cute apartment with a full kitchen and laundry. Marcela was a wonderful host who gave us plenty of advice on making the best of our stay in Prague. 11 out of 10.

  • Exceptional – Kati from Australia – 22 August 2024 (10/10)

Ideal location and friendly host. Extras made it feel like home.

  • We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the property very much. – Randy from United States – 26 June 2024 (10/10)

    Great location. Wonderful host.

What could be improved: Pitched ceiling hindered movement in the bedroom & bathroom areas slightly.

  • Marcela was an incredible guest, she even provided us a list of things to do and even recommended us which restaurants s – Bernardo from United States – 30 May 2024 (10/10)

    In the heart of town.
