You know what caught me off guard about Old Strand Spirit? The name makes it sound like some ancient pub, but it’s actually this really solid neighborhood hotel tucked away on Staropramenná street – and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. I mean, you’re not going to mistake it for the Four Seasons, but there’s something genuinely comfortable about the place that feels more real than those sterile chain hotels downtown. The building has that classic Prague character – you know, the kind where the hallways have actual personality and the windows are proper European tall. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that over-the-top hospitality theater some places put on.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – Staropramenná puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the major sights (Petřín Hill is practically around the corner), but you’re also in an actual neighborhood where Czechs live and work. I loved stepping out in the morning and grabbing coffee at the little place two blocks down, watching people head to their regular jobs instead of just tourist crowds everywhere. The tram connections are actually fantastic from here – you can get to Old Town in maybe fifteen minutes, but when you come back at night, you’re returning somewhere that feels residential and calm rather than like the middle of a theme park. Parking was easier than I expected too, which anyone who’s driven in Prague will tell you is not a given.

The rooms themselves hit that comfortable middle ground perfectly – clean, well-maintained, with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase (always my test of whether a place is trying or just cramming people in). The beds are proper comfortable, and the bathrooms are updated enough that you’re not dealing with Soviet-era plumbing, if you know what I mean. What really sold me was the breakfast setup – not some sad continental spread, but actual variety and decent coffee. You can tell they put thought into the small stuff. Look, it’s a three-star place with an eight rating for good reason – they’re not trying to be something they’re not, but what they do, they do well. If you want to stay somewhere that feels like Prague without paying tourist prices or dealing with tourist chaos, and you appreciate when a place just gets the fundamentals right, Old Strand Spirit is honestly a really smart choice.

  A perfect base in the very center, ideal for a large group. Clean and well-maintained inside, kind and helpful staff.

  They have everything you can need in the house. Location was good. You have lidl, tesco and albert near. Also you can use trams or subway and reach to center in 15 mins. I totally recommend.

  An apartment with a great location, great for families and groups who would like to cook food and have a lovely dinner/ breakfast time. Maybe needs more cookware but I think the most necessary stuff was there.
  Includes toilet paper, bedsheets and towels. Hairdryer.
  Very high ceilings. Overall apartment in a good condition.
  Location wise, it is a quiet place but the Centre is in a walking distance. Great choice!
  
  What could be improved: The apartment was clean itself, maybe some parts would need more attention or a deepclean.
  The apartment is missing some basic cleaning equipment. A mop or a broom.
  I was amazed that this apartment was missing a washing machine which would be an absolute bonus there when the apartment itself is really big (that might be a good suggestion for the owner :))

  The location of the apartment is amazing. It's situated close to the center but far from the noise. Most, public transport allows to move through the city easily. The apartment was clean and the beds were confortable.
  
  What could be improved: I would suggest to include a toaster in the kitchen. Also, it would be really useful to have a mop available to clean the floor in case something is poured on the floor.

  I liked the location and the fact that the closed windows do not let in outside noise.

  What could be improved: I thought the price was higher than usual, although it would have been great without the tax. I didn't like the fact that I had to ask the reception to send an SMS with an electronic key.
