Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked up to the Old Prague Hotel on Skořepka Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the narrow cobblestone approach – but you know what, sometimes the best places hide in plain sight. This little 3-star gem sits right in the heart of Old Town, and I mean literally a two-minute walk from the Astronomical Clock (which, fair warning, gets pretty touristy around noon when everyone’s waiting for the hourly show).

What really struck me about this place was how it manages to feel authentically Prague without trying too hard. The building itself has that weathered charm you see all over Staré Město, with thick stone walls that actually do a decent job keeping the street noise down – though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe mention you’d prefer a room facing the courtyard when you book. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting you sorted, and they’ll give you the kind of local tips you won’t find in guidebooks. Like, they told me about this tiny wine bar called Bokovka just around the corner on Templová that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my favorite nights in Prague.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable enough, with that slightly quirky European layout where the bathroom might be smaller than your closet back home, but everything works. I actually loved the old wooden floors that creaked a bit when you walked around; it added character rather than feeling run-down. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good, which matters if you’re trying to upload photos or figure out which tram gets you to Wenceslas Square (it’s the 17 or 18, by the way). What really sells this place for me is the location – you’re close enough to all the major sights that you can easily walk everywhere, but you’re tucked away on this quieter side street so you’re not dealing with the crowds of drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM like you would if you stayed right on Parizska or something. Plus, there’s a fantastic traditional Czech restaurant called Lokál practically next door, and trust me, their goulash is the real deal. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want from a Prague stay: authentic, well-located, and run by people who actually care about your experience.

Apartments in Prague provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Czech culinary traditions.

  • Superb – John from United Kingdom – 15 July 2025 (9/10)

Such a nice welcome when we got there. The room was absolutely lovely and the breakfast buffet was an absolute treat, such a great start to the day, we didn't need to have any lunch until late as we were so full up. The room we had was so quiet. Locations is perfect, we were going to the jazz club just down the road.

What could be improved: The old rickety lift which can only fit one person if you have any luggage. It wasn't a big issue taking the stairs.
