Look, I’ve walked past this place on Wenceslas Square probably a hundred times before actually staying here, and honestly? The Occidental Praha Wilson is one of those hotels that looks impressive from the outside but somehow manages to be even better once you’re inside. You know that feeling when you’re dragging your luggage down those cobblestones (and trust me, Václavské náměstí’s stones will humble any suitcase wheels), and you finally step into a lobby that actually feels worth the journey? That’s this place.

The location is — well, it’s pretty much impossible to beat if you want to be in the thick of things. I mean, you’re literally on Wenceslas Square, so the National Museum is right there at the top of the square, and you can walk to Old Town Square in maybe fifteen minutes if you don’t get distracted by all the shops and street performers along the way. What I really appreciate though is that despite being smack in the tourist center, they’ve got this surprisingly quiet vibe once you’re upstairs. The rooms face different directions, so if you’re lucky enough to get one overlooking the square, you’ll have this amazing view of all the action, but the windows are thick enough that you won’t hear every tram clanging by at 6 AM.

The staff here actually knows Prague — not just the obvious tourist spots, but they pointed me toward this little wine bar called Vinograf that I never would’ve found on my own, tucked away on Korunní street. And honestly, the breakfast situation is solid without being over the top. They’ve got proper Czech pastries alongside the usual hotel spread, and the coffee is strong enough to fuel a morning of castle climbing. The rooms themselves feel properly five-star without being stuffy about it. Everything works (which isn’t always a given in Prague’s older buildings), the beds are comfortable, and there’s actual space to spread out your stuff. I stayed during peak summer season and while the public areas got busy around check-in time, it never felt chaotic or overwhelmed like some of the bigger chain hotels nearby. What really sold me was the attention to small details — they actually have umbrellas you can borrow, which saved me during one of those sudden Prague downpours, and the concierge helped me figure out the tram system without making me feel like an idiot. At an 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a five-star spot in this location, just with a bit more personality than you might expect.
