You know what surprised me about the Occidental Praha Five? It’s actually tucked away on Radlická, which means you’re not drowning in the tourist chaos of Old Town, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. I mean, this part of Prague feels more like where actual Czechs live and work – there’s something refreshing about stepping out of your hotel and seeing regular coffee shops instead of overpriced tourist traps every ten meters.

The hotel itself has this modern, business-friendly vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy. Honestly, when I first walked into the lobby, I thought “okay, this is clean and professional” rather than “wow, Instagram moment!” – and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The rooms are genuinely comfortable with those thick curtains that actually block out light (you’d be amazed how many hotels mess this up), and the beds are proper firm without being rock-hard. What I really appreciated was the noise level – or lack thereof. Even though you’re in a city, the street isn’t one of those main thoroughfares where trams are clanging by at 5 AM. The staff seems to know their stuff too, especially when it comes to getting around the city. They’ll tell you about the metro connections without that rehearsed tourist-brochure tone.

Location-wise, you’re actually in a sweet spot that most visitors don’t discover. Smíchov district has this laid-back energy during the day, but it connects seamlessly to the city center – the metro will get you to Wenceslas Square in maybe fifteen minutes. Plus, if you’re into that whole “authentic local experience” thing (without it being forced), there are some solid pubs and restaurants within walking distance where you won’t pay tourist prices. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on the basics really well without any major hiccups, though it’s not going to blow your mind with fancy amenities or historic charm. It’s more like that reliable friend who always shows up on time and never lets you down – sometimes that’s worth more than flashy extras that don’t work properly. If you’re someone who wants a comfortable base for exploring Prague without the premium prices of the castle district or the party noise of the old center, this place actually gets it right.

  I totally loved staying there 🙂 My room was actually better then expected, the TV was huge and nice, and the bed is super big and comfy. The staff was very nice and helpful, I couldn't want more. Thank you so much!
