New Town – Apple Apartments

Capital City of Prague, Czechia
Štěpánská 36, Prague, 110 00, Czech Republic

Overview

You know what caught me off guard about New Town – Apple Apartments? The location is honestly perfect, but not in the way you’d expect. Yeah, it’s right on Štěpánská street in Prague’s New Town, which sounds all touristy and crowded – but actually, you’re tucked away just enough to feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.

I mean, step outside and you’re literally a five-minute walk from Wenceslas Square (though honestly, locals just call it Václavák), but here’s the thing – you’re positioned perfectly to duck into those little side streets where the real Prague happens. There’s this amazing traditional pub called U Fleku just around the corner that’s been brewing beer since 1499, and I’m not exaggerating when I say you can smell the hops some evenings when the wind’s right. The apartments themselves are… well, they’re apartment-style, which means you get actual space to spread out your stuff instead of living out of a suitcase for a week. The kitchenette situation is pretty solid – I actually cooked breakfast a few mornings instead of hunting down overpriced hotel food. The 8.1 rating makes total sense because it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely comfortable and functional.

What really sold me on this place (and why I’d definitely stay again) is how it sits in Prague’s rhythm. You’re close enough to the main train station that arriving with luggage isn’t a nightmare – trust me, cobblestones and wheeled suitcases don’t mix well elsewhere in the city. But you’re also positioned where the morning commute flows around you rather than through you, if that makes sense. I loved watching locals grab their coffee and pastries from the little bakery across the street while tourists were still figuring out their maps three blocks away. The building itself has that solid, unpretentious feel you get with 3-star places that know exactly what they are – clean, comfortable, no-nonsense accommodation where you can actually relax after walking fifteen miles through Prague’s historic center. The only minor thing is that Štěpánská can get a bit lively on weekend nights, but honestly, you’re in Prague – if you wanted complete silence, you probably should’ve picked a different city. Plus, the double-glazed windows do their job pretty well.

Prague hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Old Town Square to elegant castle-view hotels and modern accommodations near Wenceslas Square.

Superb

Very spacious apartment, we were able to check in early as we arrived very early in the morning. Very comfy beds. Lovely balconies. Made our stay most enjoyable

What could be improved: Could have been a shower curtain in the bathroom

I can tell they care to provide comfortable clean well equipped large pleasant apartment. Great price. Get location, gre

It was a lovely large apartment. With large bedrooms. Lovely view from balcony. We didn’t use the kitchen much. But seemed fully kitted out. Fridge was clean and not smelly. Everything looked good. Of decent quality and standard. I really appreciated that there was a washing machine. It cleaned well and pretty much was dried by end of cycle. The location was fantastic. I travelled with my young son. So it meant we could stay out a little longer in centre of Prague because everything was walking distance. The apartment is a street off the famous Wensaclas square. And walking down that square you get to famous astronomical clock and Charles bridge and it’s a right cultural hub of history, theatre, beautiful scenery, shopping, museums. Entertainment. And of course food! I really appreciated how quickly the staff responded and kept in contact with me. There was a point where there was a delayed response as they don’t work weekends. But as soon as they got my message they responded promptly. And resolved my query speedily. The caretaker who came was respectful of us and decently. Dealt with my query the receptionist allowed me to leave our luggage after checkout with her so that we could spend the rest of the e day in Prague not carrying them before our flight. That helped so much! She even let me charge my phone there. That also was super helpful for us. Really really appreciated all of the above!o

What could be improved: -Even though we were provided with a pic of the apartment building which was helpful. It was still unclear how to enter. You can enter either from
The left which in the pic has shutters above entrance. Or from the right through the bar heading out of bar from the left or even from behind the building. However, when you enter the corridor there are a set of lifts/staircase after a locked door. The fob touching these double doors unlocks it. I wasn’t sure. Fortunately, I bumped into the neighbour. He was super helpful too and showed me and made sure I had the key to access the apartment.
-I found entering the building a bit scary on my first day. Apologies to the neighbour for seeming apprehensive when all he was doing was helping us!We arrived around 10/11pm and it took me awhile figuring out how to get in apartment from the front of the building. Like I said neighbour was super helpful, we were fine after. We just avoided having to go out or return too late and hopefully the guidance in this message should make it easier for others.
-Finding the key was a bit funny because the directions given were correct and felt abit like finding a key in an escape room but clues were there such as the cupboard with the wine image and the codes. So we were happy.
- finding reception was another funny little ordeal as we knocked on a door and waited ages to get in. Whereas we just needed to walk down the winding stairs. As mentioned in my next note I wasn’t able to contact and had to figure it out myself. If you’re as silly as me. Just go down the stairs! Don’t worry!
-Calling the reception from the number given with my UK sim didn’t work. But I was able to message from this app.
-I’m not sure if they had signal issues with WiFi. Or if they were not happy with what I was browsing either way wasn’t idea when it stopped working. But did work most of the time and I was glad it was available!
-the apartment was actually clean.
