You know what struck me first about Naprstek Urban Retreat? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that most tourists completely miss, even though you’re literally a three-minute walk from Old Town Square. I mean, Náprstkova street is one of those hidden Prague gems where you’ll hear more Czech than English being spoken, which honestly makes the whole experience feel more authentic.

The building itself has this understated elegance that’s pretty typical of better Prague hotels – they’ve kept the historical facade but completely modernized the interior without going overboard. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (no hour-long waits like some places in the tourist center), and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well. When I asked about good coffee nearby, the desk clerk didn’t just point me toward Starbucks – she sent me to this little roastery on Betlémské náměstí that locals frequent. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference, you know? The rooms are what I’d call “smart small” – they’ve maximized every inch without making you feel cramped. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for Prague standards, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone actually thought about guest experience: proper blackout curtains (essential when summer sunrise hits at 5 AM), decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound silly – but the air conditioning actually works. You’d be surprised how many European hotels still think opening a window is sufficient climate control.

The location is really where this place shines, though I should mention it’s not dead silent at night – you’re still in the city center, after all. But it’s the good kind of urban buzz, not drunk tourists stumbling around at 3 AM. You can walk to Charles Bridge in about eight minutes, hit the Jewish Quarter in five, and there’s a tram stop right around the corner if you want to explore beyond the center. Parking is tricky (like everywhere in Prague 1), but they have a partnership with a garage about two blocks away. Food-wise, you’re spoiled for choice – there’s everything from tourist traps to hidden locals-only spots within a few minutes’ walk. I particularly loved that you could grab fresh bread from the bakery on Karoliny Světlé street for breakfast instead of paying hotel prices. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling that a lot of Prague’s tourist areas have lost – there are still apartment buildings mixed in with the hotels, so you see people walking their dogs and heading to work, not just selfie sticks everywhere. With a 9.1 rating, I went in with pretty high expectations, and honestly, they delivered. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it gets all the important stuff right while keeping you connected to what makes Prague special in the first place.

    The apartment was modern looking, well furnished, spacious and cozy – a great retreat and a change of scenery after a long day in Prague's historic side. The host/s were communicative and responsive, albeit everything was digital. so you just have to check your email or app notifications.

    What could be improved: Nothing negative to stay. it was great value for money. The apartment was where I wanted to be – near, not in the old town. 1 minor but very convenient suggestion – wardrobe hooks in the bathroom would be a great help.

    Designově krásné ubytování, dobře vybavené – pračka, myčka (včetně kapslí), Nespresso, nádobí, dvě televize, klidná poloha, lokalita skvělá. Ochotný personál, odpoví obratem, vyhoví požadavkům.

    What could be improved: Jedině snad by bylo dobré ke vstupním dveřím dát závěs nebo nějakou izolaci – v době pobytu bylo v Praze -11st a od dveří hodně táhlo a byla ledová podlaha.

    Хорошая квартира, удобная кровать и диван. Большая ванная комната с теплым полом, с душевой кабиной и ванной.

    What could be improved: Нет лифта к вверх ним этажам, ступеньки полукругом. С коляской и детьми не очень удобно. В ванной комнате очень опасная дверь, прибили ней пальцы несколько раз каждый. Правила очень странные. Написано что если в квартире будете снимать что то или фотографировать то штраф 10 000€.
