Nana Macs Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Nana Macs? The name sounds like it should be some quirky Irish pub, but step inside this place on Palackého and you’ll find yourself in one of Prague’s most thoughtfully designed boutique hotels. I mean, the 4-star rating doesn’t really capture how special this spot feels – honestly, that 9.5 guest rating makes way more sense once you’ve spent a night here.
The location is absolutely perfect if you actually want to experience Prague like someone who lives here, not just tick off tourist boxes. You’re right in the heart of New Town, but on a quieter stretch where you won’t hear drunk stag parties stumbling back at 3 AM (trust me, this matters). Wenceslas Square is maybe a three-minute walk, and you can easily wander over to the river or catch a tram to the castle without dealing with the chaos of staying right in Old Town. There’s this excellent little café around the corner that locals frequent – I spotted the same faces there every morning, which is always a good sign.
What I love about Nana Macs is how they’ve nailed that balance between modern comfort and actually respecting the character of the building. The rooms feel spacious by European standards, and whoever designed them understood that travelers need proper lighting for reading and getting ready – sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places mess this up. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have that satisfying weight to the fixtures that suggests quality without being flashy about it. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no weird upselling or confusing key card systems, just friendly staff who seemed genuinely happy to help with restaurant recommendations.
The building itself has this lovely Art Nouveau influence that you’ll notice in the common areas, but they haven’t gone overboard trying to preserve every historical detail at the expense of functionality. You’ve got reliable wifi, proper air conditioning (essential during Prague’s surprisingly warm summers), and – this is huge – actually decent soundproofing between rooms. I stayed here during a busy weekend in September and barely heard my neighbors, which is pretty remarkable for a city center hotel.
Honestly, if you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel settled somewhere rather than just passing through, Nana Macs hits that sweet spot. It’s polished enough that you feel well taken care of, but not so formal that you can’t relax in the lobby with a glass of wine after a long day of walking cobblestones. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood well – they steered me toward this incredible traditional restaurant about ten minutes away that I never would have found on my own, and away from a tourist trap I was considering.
The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator is on the smaller side, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, you might need to make two trips. But really, that’s being nitpicky. For the price point and location, Nana Macs delivers exactly what you hope for but rarely find – a place that feels like both a retreat and a genuine part of the city.

Lovely old building, lots of character and sympathetically restored. Ideally located near the old town. The owner Chris couldn’t have been more welcoming and his right hand man David was exceptional. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Location is perfect! Super close to Old Town attractions in every direction! The breakfast was amazing and prepared by staff who really care. They opened breakfast early for us on our last day because we had an early train to catch. We were welcomed like family. Would stay here again 100%!

My son and I recently stayed at Nana Macs and it was nothing short of fantastic! If you’re looking for a hotel that goes beyond the ordinary, this is the perfect place. The quirky, vintage-inspired decor gives it a special charm, making each room feel unique and full of character. Unlike chain hotels, Nana Macs offers a cozy and personal atmosphere that truly enhances the experience.
One of the biggest highlights was the exceptional staff. From the moment I arrived, Chris, David, and Eva were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help with recommendations or anything I needed. Mornings were a delight, enjoying breakfast and great conversations with David and Chris. Their warmth and hospitality truly made our stay unforgettable.
The location is another major plus—right in the heart of Prague, within walking distance of top attractions like Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and Wenceslas Square. Public transport is also easily accessible, making it convenient to explore further.
Staying at Nana Macs felt like stepping into a charming historic retreat while still enjoying modern comforts. If you’re looking for a hotel that combines great location, unique atmosphere, and outstanding service, I highly recommend Nana Macs for your Prague visit!

Got upgraded to a suite, which was huge. Very comfortable, nice & helpful staff, good location, solid breakfast, very good value for money. Would definitely stay there again.

Loved the quirkyness of the hotel. The rooms were roomy the bed was large and comfy. Lots of options for breakfast including fresh scrambled eggs. There is everything you need a fab wine bar with amazing cocktails a little coffee place and a cinema area (even though we didn’t get chance to use). The service was outstanding, very personable and nothing was too much trouble.
What could be improved: The only criticism would be that the hot water in the shower was warm at best.
